Reset
From GEWar Manual
GEWar can't run for years without changes, from time to time (about every 3-9 months) the game needs to be restarted completely. That means: All player's game accounts are reset, alliances disbanded and everyone starts over with setting homebase new with startup geos, oil and so on. All cities are unoccupied and just defended by a few troops of Militia.
Why are resets needed? There are a couple reasons, one is that after several months of playing some alliances and players will have gained a dominating role in the game, other players may start feeling bored and wish a restart.
In such a situation usually a winning alliance and player is announced which is determined by the total value hold at a certain date. Being among the Top 3 players and alliances is a great honor and most players try all they can in the last weeks of the game to reach their goal. Usually a reset is announced by the admins about 1-2 weeks prior without saying the exact date. This is mostly to avoid too much players being online same time which could cause too much traffic for the server when the reset happens.
Most players say, when a reset happened and all start over the most exciting phase of the game starts: The players try to pick as much cities as possible, rebuild their alliances or create new ones. They are re-thinking their relationships, start new wars or settle hassles with the alliance they fought last round. They join different alliances or return to their origins.
Another reason for resets are the changes made in the game, some need a a fresh database and other features are somehow changing the gameplay in a way that it's better to reset to give everyone equally the chance to enjoy the new features.
