I'm getting closer to the photography world during my free time, or better that bit of time that my university let me do, well i'd like to know if there are anyone who like not only to shot but also to mod their photo, in modding i mean change color and all things around thesee having a good pic finally...and if so which software do you use?
I have been using photoshop for years, haven't really tried anything else though but photoshop is pretty easy to learn!

yes absolutely photoshop is the best and the most professional about modding, but learning how to let work it it's really a long road...
wow star you make me feel dumb, lol, i don't know how many times i wasted on it...
Vince if you have to figure it out on your own then I bet it will be way harder. I was fortunate enough to have a short course in photoshop but every time there's a new version I have to read up on it and teach myself the new stuff. I don't use it as often as I used to but love to play around on it still

I use photoshop cs5 for many things. Although not for contrast and saturation. This because you usually then tweak a jpg and jpgs can look funny when tweaked.
To really tweak a photo while keeping it real, you should photograph in RAW format. Then use a program like "capture one pro" from phase one to tweak it while it is still a RAW. A raw file has much more information. So it doesnt rely on filters and artificial saturation/exposure etc.
Afterwards you save it as a JPG without using compression. Many cameras have a lot of compression on photos when shooting in JPG. This really reduces the quality. Shoot in raw or tiff.
Also have good tips on denoise software(photoshops reduce noise is one of the worst) and software to create over the top photos.
