King I really think it depends on where you read and if the people writing have a clue.
I give Mel crap on here ALL the time for thinking the world is going to end. I talk to some days 100's of people, employees, friends, kids parents... and you know no one ever has said that. You could spend a week in the use and talk to 400 folks and find one who is a bit touched and decide everyone feels that way...

Peon, we both know eventually the poop will hit the fan. There is nothing wrong with being prepared for something that may happen. You teach your kids gun safety to protect themselves, and I assume to learn how to hunt if they ever need to? Call it whatever you want, but I'm sure the folks in Greece, Egypt, Libya and Iraq never thought hell would decend upon them either.
Now, guns are great, in Canada, like America it's a past time event that goes generations deep. Dads, taking the kid out hunting and teaching him/her about real life. More often than not, the 'bad' guns are from those who don't know what they are doing. Which is why what Peon is doing is the 100% correct way to deal with it. Teach a kid how to respect something and they will.
Now, not sure about what this post really was about as it went a bit off topic (not my doing), but I just wanted to add that song for Ragin to use in his list of song with insults. Back off indeed!
Peon, the movie, you know what sucks? They changed the second movie because the new overlords were mad. Originally to have the Chinese as the enemy, until they buy AMC and so they change it to the N. Koreans...lol, can't make those that own the dollar upset eh? LOL

I assumed you meant the Red Dawn reference as the movie you spoke of. If that was the case, I thought you would have heard about the second version? Won't be as good as the first one, obviously, but still would have been interested. Too bad they had to change the enemy though. At least the Chinese invasion story would have been more plausible. North Koreans? Come on, they don't even have electricity for crying out loud.
I do hate the pc crowd you are right, its killing way too many things. People spend way too much time psycho analysing something which could be so innocent and trying to find the racist, minority biased, or whatever issue they can find as a means to either belittle or change something.
Primary example nowadays Bah Bah no longer Black Sheep, is now bah bah rainbow sheep !!! It is PC gone mental.
Another example, in my daughter school there is a reward system, the naughty kids win it for being good occasionally,those kids who are good all the time get forgotten, all because you cannot be seen to be telling the same kids off all the time. Well tell them to behave then you wont have to tell them off !!
Incidentally I agree PB is doing it the right way by teaching his kids to respect the guns and how to use them properly.
Sadly its the kids who use them as a means to intimidate or kill via crime that it is wrong,they have no respect not only for the weapon they carry, but the life they extinguish. But that problem is not only pertinent in the USA or Canada, it is across the globe, as these weapons become more readily available on the black market.
