Ok I downgraded to GE version 5.0, it loads all the cities, armies and homebases all over the globe now and not just in a 2,000 kilometre radius. It seems to of solved everything, it lags more when zoomed in but this is to be expected because it's now displaying all the cities, armies and homebases at once and not just in a selected area.

ok good but I have version 5.0.11733.9347, I think that's the latest of 5.0. I suggest to check for updates, you can do that from the upper menu bar, check the "help" item, on the bottom of the dropdown menu there should be the "check for updates" entry. I'm not sure what has been changed but the version 5.0 I run works without any problems and I assume some bugs from the 5.0 beta were fixed. If it suggests to upgrade to a better 5.0 version, ok, but if it suggests to go to a 5.1 version, then of course screw it.
well, you could try upgrading to GE version 5.1.3533.1731 to see if there is any difference in behavior, although I'm not very optimistic about success. Again, try version 5.0, that is much better in at least 99% of all cases.
did you guys tried running XP mode in Win 7? google earth 5.0 works fine in win 7, but still disable/grey external browser option. XP mode dont have the problem.
