Shawshank Redemption is a GREAT movie.
The ending just kind of hits you... and arg! I can't even think of what to say without spoiling any of it.
You know how the story of Stephen King(the book) is named in Holland?
'The Escape'
Now if you have seen the movie, you will know why that is the stupidest name ever for this movie.

So this evening me and Amy watched Vanilla Sky.
I've seen it before, but I somewhere remembered I liked it.
And darn....I still do. Love that movie from start to finish.
The story is about a guy(Tom Cruise) who got half a company and a lot of money from his dad. When his parents died that is.
The other half is controlled by 7 guys that want him out.
And he's about to murder someone you find out in the start of the movie.
He has everything he could want and can get any girl he wants. He plays around with a girl named Julie(Cameron Diaz) but later falls in love with Sofia(Penelope Cruz). It's the love of his life.
But jealous Julie can't let go and stalks him. Eventually gets him in his car and drives off a bridge. She dies, but he survives and wakes up from a coma.
From there it's all downhill. Disfigured and paranoid he goes through life. Losing friends, about to lose the company and Sofia....money....he thinks the 7 board members did this to him and are trying to kill him.
But he loses grip on reality. Is everything really happening? Is anything really happening?
Acting: 9 out of 10
Music: 8 out of 10
Story: 9 out of 10
Directing: 8 out of 10
Dialogues: 9 out of 10
Gripping factor: 9 out of 10
I added the gripping factor because that is one of the most important things. Does is really grip you? How much can you stay focused on the movie? How much MUST you stay focused?
Just finished watching "The Golden Compass," and I thought it was really well done. It's a bit odd though the theme and plots as it reminds me of something I'll keep to myself unless others have figured it out. Quite intriguing if that's what Pullman was getting at though .

Well worth the time to see it.
Ahh, cool, have you read the books? They are incredible! While LOTR managed to do justice to the original material, I doubt that The Golden Compass will be able to.....especially with the film deliberately withholding some of the anti-religious and political elements....

I don't think I'm going to watch the Golden Compass in the theatres. I'll watch it when it comes to dvd.
Reason is that I've seen several reviews on tv here, and they say it's a bit childish. And the same reviewers were right about Eragon and Chronicles of Narnia.
Golden Compass reminds me a bit of Narnia.
No country for old men could be promising. It's definately not my kind of movie, but the reviews are very good, so I might give it a chance.
