THat's a coincidence.
I was just checking it out as it was on the news here.
Though I'm a little dissapointed.
Celestia already had this feature and is better.
It's navigation is better and you can easily go to Jupiter or beyond.
It was more 3D while this one looks like a huge picture of the galaxy where you can zoom in on.
It'll get better...and ofcourse it's easy to adapt to gewar
All stars and planets have coords their, similar to earth.
Just change the location of cities(and names) and change armies to spacecrafts and you have Google Sky War
Location: Halfway between the gutter and the stars

You'd also have to remember to increase the army travel time by a few orders of magnitude or else you'd have to wait a mere 29,834.51773 years for your scout troops to make it to Alpha Centauri and that might kill the flow of the game.

Tsssss....impatience kills the realistic factor of the game
This could be a very nice addition to GeWar, but this feature does seem to be in it's early stages. It would be nice if Google could add some more distant stars, make the background more visible, and make the planets 3d. The only issue I see with using this with GeWar is that the overlays used on earth are visible in the sky. I do, however look forward to the day I can fight for a star using some drop ships instead of tents.

We could do the change but, the game would change of name to something different to GE and could be a new begin. Currently GE limits us to create levels (as donator server) where all the control is simply changing of levels to show differents kml files. With software like celestia we would lost a very important esthetic feature even would be more planets to conquest and never would mind how the cities are.
Also would be a project that would take a long of time with the current staff.
I see the angles, percieve the vectors and calculate the rates of change.
Yet I remain trapped in the fourth dimension, on a singular path toward the infinite limit of death.
I think the planets should be totally empty at the beginning of a "google universe war" game so that every player founds his own colony (with ~10 scientists as a start) planets by sending a spacecraft from his HB (on earth). Later (when you have enough money) you could send some settlers to build up your colony...
