Hi all, I need help!!!

My mom bought a vase (kinda) thing. Theres a symbol, I think Chinese, though it may be Japanese. If someone could give me the translation there might be a reward. Picture is below:

it means 'wind' in Traditional Chinese characters.
it often implicate 'flow' or 'style' or 'tasteful'.
not very professional.

Yeah I've heard that before, and I also believe that. Although someone might explain to me why I can write 'wind' much faster that you can write those symbols which you see in the picture :p. Most likely because our writing is 1 continues motion of a single line through each word?

歌曲:像风一样自由
歌手:许巍
词曲:许巍 专辑:在路上

我像风一样自由
就像你的温柔无法挽留
你推开我伸出的双手
你走吧最好别回头
无尽的漂流自由的渴求
所有沧桑独自承受
我给你温柔你拒绝接受
我给你双手真实的感受
我给你自由记忆的长久
我给你所有但不能停留
我像风一样自由

when we type chinese characters, two ways could be choosed.
one is first you read out the letters(we call it pinyin) of the chracter in your mind, like"風",we read it as "feng",then we type f e n g one by one, there would be a characters list, then we can choose the "風" in the list(you know our one pinyin may stands for three or more characters).

as i thought,the"風" in the lantern means:風生水起.
现在比喻事情做的特别好,一定的时间里就发展的特别快,能迅速壮大起来.
风生,风吹起来了;水起,水涌动起来了。风生水起,有大动静了。
that's means:the wind blows and the water rolls,There will be something big happens(usually nice things).
