View Full Version : Bermuda Triangle
Bermuda triangle (http://www.googleearthhacks.com/dlfile1272/Bermuda-Triangle-Overlay.htm)
Kitten & I were discussing this via PM & we think it would be cool as a place where troops/armies go missing, rather than a city :)
What do you all think?

jammo 01-13-2006, 02:58 AM maybe not dissappear entirely, but lose a few troops to strange "accidents" along their journey through the triangle.. :)
i dont know if its a fair idea, mainly because you can't really be on hand all the time to control where your troops go, and dont want to have to send an army around the world (taking over 4-5 hours) and have to keep watching them as they go through the triangle, or move them when they are about to.
Although it would then require lateral thinking to move troops to stops along the way that would take them around it.
interested to hear other thoughts.
Yeah, ofcourse just a few troops.. not whole packs, I just think it would be quirky.. maybe have them reappear at your homebase after being MIA (missing in action) for 2 weeks ;)

jammo 01-13-2006, 03:08 AM maybe like Close Encounters, they can turn up 30 years later!! :D
still looking the same as the day they dissappeared of course ;)

I was thinking they could appear in the middle of the desert or near Devil's Tower Wyoming. :)

Freaky... :D
JohnnysBad 01-13-2006, 08:41 AM Seems pointless if only bad things happened in the triangle; everyone would just avoid it.
Now, if there were benefits to going through it as well, such as discovering random troops to add to the army moving through it, or the army getting scared and now moves twice as fast to their destination..
Make it a risk to go through the triangle with possible benefits, instead of just a waste of geos and coding for something that only people not in the know will use.

Aliens aren't known to be too generous with us humans... but if you insist I suppose we could arrange so that all the probings increases your army's stamina, if that makes you happy.
flamingchrome 01-13-2006, 03:39 PM i think this is a great idea.
i have some other suggestions:
set up various 'paranormal' areas such as area 51, bermuda triangle, devil's tower, nazca airfield, pyramids of giza, chichen itza, and so forth. when armies travel through these areas several things can happen such as troops vanishing entirely, troops wandering aimlessly for a random period of time, troops increasing in strength, troops vanishing and reappering in other 'paranormal' spot.
flamingchrome 01-13-2006, 03:41 PM i forgot to add that troops could also possibly be 'probed' ;)
palau 01-13-2006, 04:06 PM These are all cool ideas, if they can be coded somehow.
The events should be reported in Your Main GEwar page, otherwise people will start posting the phenomenons in the Bugs section :p
His Lord Uberdude 01-13-2006, 05:02 PM Umm...in a game that's supposed to be...realistic, do we really want wacko stuff like this? I mean, should we have witchdoctors at our homebases too?

But troops from other armies who have been lost or stranded within the triangle would happily join your army if it meant getting out of there. :)
Bleak 01-13-2006, 08:45 PM And how about stoping for a while longer at a local fast-food restaurant XD jking
I do like the idea of places where things can happen, either good or bad... i'm just afraid of the hundreds of PM's i'll receive from people that don't understand what happened to the troops(even if a message is shown).

perhaps a warning message can be displayed when launching an army through such a zone. that way, players can have the option of taking their chances, or choosing a more circuitous route.

Then why would anyone go there?
Don't forget features like this take a lot of coding.
For that time it should be a tremendous assett to the game.

but everything mentioned here is real. Isn't it? ;)
(i'm sure there are plenty who believe!!)
