I joined maybe a week and a half ago, and back then, this was a place where the admins and other players posted GoogleEarth related riddles and puzzles with Geos for those that got them. THis was a great and fun alternative to jeweling. Beginning with about 4 days ago, after our servers got swamped with new members, the games section has become almost a joke section.
Half of the threads on here are not even meant to make any money and are just jokes and sarcastic posts. Then, we have about 10-15 new lotteries popping up...lotteries that nobody is joining. Basically, this nonsense clogs up the games section, so that good ideas like the "Odd Man Out" game that are actually going to happen get pushed aside. I strongly suggest this section gets taken more seriously, and that the new members desperatly trying to suck money out of the community stop trying to post new lotteries. It won't work. A. Most Players won't trust you with their money. B. There are so many different lotteries that players just won't bother.
If we really are to have a GEWAR lottery, then there should be only one, and it should be run by people that have played this game for a long time and that we trust, not players that joined yesterday and are out to make a quick buck. Personally, I would rather have the old game section back, I don't need a lottery if it means destroying everything that was once cool and fun about this section of the forum. Those are my thoughts anyway. I urge either the admins or the players to do something to clean this section out and start it anew. Feel free to post your thoughts on....well...my thoughts.

I remember when there was no game forum at all

But there has been far too many and something needs to be done, fast. You go to the New Posts button and you get covered in lottery threads that no one posts in exept to complain. :(

I'll completely agree with this - its just getting too much, that is why I posted the warning that us staff will not be doing anything about scams...

I agree with you to a certain extent, BC (noise drowns out the useful information), but people need to be able to try out game ideas that they think might actually work. Eventually, it will work out and the weak ideas will go away or at least slow down. Once someone understands how to make a lottery work, there will only be that one. Others might try to imitate, but most people will go with the established one. As for the jokes, I appreciate what mythdraug was doing, even if it did need to go in a different section.

And I do agree that people should be more serious about the games they suggest. Not that they've all been fluff -- there have been some really interesting takes on the ideas.

Also, I agree with Uberdude.

*Edit: And Tara. And some other people, too.

No, by no means. There have been some great ideas out there. Its just that most of them were quickly drowned out by the flood of lotteries. As for the joke posts, they did make me laugh, and they were funny. It just seems like they should go more in the trashtalk section. Regardless, I think its just time we did some early spring cleaning around here if you catch my drift. ;)

Okay, I don't mean to offend anyone, but I think some things in the forums just aren't as, well . . . sophisticated anymore since the 1,000 member boost last week from digg.com. And, I have a pet peeve with Newbs who think they know what they're doing but don't (again, no offense). This isn't your normal old trash talking-slang forum, where people post stupid things and get replys that are just as stupid and idiotic. Now, the GEWar forums was one of the first forums I have ever seen where there's just kind of a loose feeling all around. No fights, rarely swear words or internet lingo (eg u, r, g2g, brb). It used to be a forum where people actually took the time to write up a reply, use full sentences and simply have a good time. Then the Newbs came in thinking this was your normal, old, idiotic forum, where no one cared what they said. I was starting to get use to the loose feeling of this forum, when the Newbs came in. Why can't you guys take the time to write a decent reply, actually think of what your saying and not getting your post count up, or thinking hurry up, so I can move on to the next thing? People used to not be so rushed in what they were doing, and in GEWar, that can happen: things aren't rushed, because people have to wait for their armies to get somewhere, or their resources to rise, as they don't wish to jewel, or something like that.
So please, people, actually take the time write up a good reply and not blabber nonsensically so you can get on to the next best thing (I am not speaking to anyone in particular, of course, just the general public).
Sorry for the outburst, I have just been meaning to say that for sooo long.

yet zinc you are directing your posts at the newbs only, which some of this is from members who have been here for a while.

personally when i first saw the games for geos part i thought it would be only mods and admins running them, not everyday users.

Yes, toiletduck, some have been the old users and not the Newbs. I'm just saying that most have been the Newbs (and this may be biased, being I just don't like Newbs who don't take the time to look around and see how things are actually done around here). I just think this could be a better forum.
Basically, what I'm saying is that I completely and totally agree with bullet.

It could be, it should be, it will be, but now this thread is boiling down to petty arguements thus ruining a different forum. Could someone just lock this?

Senior members, they think they know everything!

Sorry, I just had to say that, Generic. ;)
