Dude, what you must get into your head is this: A country is not made by land or borders, is made by people. If the people dont feel part of it, they should have their own land.

Dalailama publicize a list,and said the people in the list were killed in the chaos.So china checked the list,try to find out how are the people in the list.But,most of the name ,nearly all the name,in the list are nobody.the people have similar name with the list are stille alive and all right.

However, i don't see how pointing it out helps knowing what is going on in truth.
How to get people to defend a side if not by exposing the situation constructively?
Denouncing the dalai lama is one thing, but then all discussion is cut by calling people brainwashed?
It just leads to spawning multiple threads on the same topic.
Well, there's no need to discuss the usual issues like human rights, democracy, freedom, etc.
but at least if there's things we don't know and media hides it'd be good to know more about it.
Unless, of course, your internet is being screened.

Now, there's plenty to learn about tibet's situation.
You can compare with what has happened and still happens in many countries.
Such troubles are not necessarily about people and their rights, but about the form government it would take.
Will the tibet self impose a theocracy if allowed to separate?

In Mexico there's many native groups that want to be autonomous (not independent).
Where i live there's a group that only want to policy themselves to circumvent the law and exploit their own families.
Success is given to them in a tray, as there's plenty of help and work available,
but the cultural barrier is strong and the poor favour leeching money whenever possible.
So the question comes, how do you bring free trade to those that do not want it?

Im probably twice as old as you.. And I do read, I have a proper and independant education. And we didnt pulled out cause of germany..

err, well... Using the olympics subject to illustrate what I have been seeing here, in the "west".

- If China is so kind with their people, why the olympics torch has been treated that way, no matter where it is? In China, only local government generals and a few TV companies - carefully picked - could watch the arriving of the olympic torch. Why is that? To avoid riots? If there is the danger to have riots there, why many people still tend to think that there is no problems going on? The people was prohibited to see the torch which symbolizes the union and freedom of the people... that is weird.

- In all countries where the torch is traveling, there are severall people against it? Never in the olympics history (as far as I remember), I saw that the torch must be "armored" to not be attacked... Maybe in 1980 (USRR olympics, which was boycoted because of afganistan war)... A comunist country receiveing the olympics at that time... Coincidence?

- Countries are changing the torch paths minutes before it has to travel, afraid of riots...

- Many atlhetes are not accepting to walk with the torch. Why is that happening? What is easier to have: The entire world except china, having the wrong information of all press of the world, or only china having the wrong information? Are all those athletes with wrong information about what is going on in china?

- Recently, a man named Hu Jia, 34 years old, was arrested and will stay in prision for not less than 3 years, because he posted an article (a open-letter) that the government didn´t like. The open-letter was saying something like "come to china for olympics, but don´t forget that there is a shadow side on all beauties you will see". His daughter, with 4 months-old, who ironicaly lives in a place named "bo bo freedom city" will live without her father during the most important period of her life, because he wrote something that the government didn´t like????

- At the same time, when NHK ( a japanese TV company) - which can be watched in China on some hotels - was showing some protests related to the olympic torch, the broadcast was suddenly interrupted. Don´t you think this is a way to hide what is happening there?

When you exercise all your freedoms, come and talk.
Freedom is pretty useless when you don't exercise it. A lot of people go "Oh, we have no freedom, rebel, rebel."
But how many people exercise all of their freedoms?

As for Canada and the US immigration policies. What about the Mexicans? Cuban residents? Way back in WW2, that ship of people that were coldly sent back to Europe?
Of course, US immigration is open too. US company owners are admitting that they need the skilled workers, and if they don't get it, they go overseas.
The reason why China wants to close immigration is because European and American countries are probing and taking all the good ones back overseas.
