View Full Version : Chinese Webshops and contacts

I have a site in Holland which discusses a lot of stuff of webshopping and etc.

What we would like to know:
How do you do this?
Sometimes I see stuff out there with prices that are sooo low you wouldn't even expect them to be able to make it with the cost of materials.

Example:
www.dealextreme.com (http://www.dealextreme.com)

So I'm wondering, everyone from China, do you guys have more online shops like that?
That also support English language as my Chinese is a little rusty :p

We are planning to open a shop in Crete that sells all sorts of stuff, and we would like some good Chinese sites.

I have made some Chinese contacts right now. All great guys. Not too good in english but they use online translators that are better than babelfish, so I understand them.
But I'd like to learn more about it and get deeper into it.
A friend of mine is just on his plain back from China. Went to a factory there and also made some nice videoclips that I should post later on.
Shows how they work there.
Also show the hospitality. And food I wouldn't dream of eating ever but that's another thing :D
I saw him eating snake. Now that's one thing you'll never see me eat though.
Fortunately I can eat with sticks.

But I'd love some online shops, and perhaps some tips. I'm thinking about planning a trip to China in the fall. Because if you want to earn money, that's where you have to go.

The shop we plan would be a cheap stuff with gadgets and stuff like that. They love it over there. But they don't have the resources I guess to buy it from. It's too expensive over there.
So help me out :)
I thought this opportunity at gewar would be the best, as we have a lot of Chinese players over here.

Never heard of it, but with this many Chinese people playing the game, you'll eventually get a good response :p

I personally haven't paid attention when I'm in China, but the products are cheap, but they're like 25 cents Asian labor. Maybe a dollar. They're really cheap, I've bought stuff around that price, and it wasn't even a sale :p

As for doing that, it'd be a nice idea, but profitability may be limited unless you buy directly from the manufacturers.

And... a trip to China is... eh. You need to have contacts in order to earn money even in China. I mean, you can only carry so many goods.

Don't worry about that :)
I have that settled.

But with those chinese labours, people expect it to be slavery.
I have videotapes in factories showing otherwise.
It seemed they actually had fun there.

What also struck me is that they don't know a quick lunch like we do.
Food really means something to them. And there is no thing like a quick break to stuff your sandwich down.
It must be done properly. Enough time to eat various 'exotic' things and relax during that.
A lot don't expect that.
It's like a meditation during the lunch break.

I have relatives who actually work at those plants.

It isn't "slavery".
But there is no ritual for food :p

Also, you have to talk currency proportions.
It's a lot to them, minuscule for us.

Ritual is a big word.
But here in Holland we get a 30 minute break and you eat your sandwich and smoke a cigarette with a coffee and run back.
There on video you see they have plenty of food we haven't even heard of here.
And their break was an hour.
They could really relax.

It is the opposite of what we always here in the media here about Chinese workers having no right but to work work work.

But that friend of mine has been doing business with that factory for a while now. He knows the ups and downs.
But that's just one factory.

I was hoping on several online shops, and contacts.
I don't want a deal with a factory like he has. His contract also states he must sell atleast a minimum amount of stuff or the contract is void.
I'd rather have some sites like dealextreme, or something I can do something with.

One fortunate thing(which is unfortunate for the US), is the low dollar.
As the chinese count everything in dollars, for me in Europe that makes it even cheaper.
As the dollar is soooo low, that it makes it cheaper already.

Well... they're moving away from the dollar because it's weak, but that's for another thing :p

Also, you won't get true cheap without striking deals with manufacturers in bulk. You could do an "eBay" like business though. Buy low sell high :p

One of the contacts I made is from ebay.
Doing good business with him.
Pretty funny...a Chinese guy calling himself Wayne as the name is more commercial.
But even without bulk, the prices are amazing over here. Most shops over here can't compete with that.
