Hey jo,
Sorry. My son Andrew passed away last June 6th. I became very depressed and had lost much interest in doing just about anything except surviving day by day and taking care of my wife since then.
(Andrew was better known to you guys as 'Flyswatter').
He was just shy of 24 yrs. old. He had lots of medical issues most of his life growing up. His main problem was his lungs. When he was 4 yrs old he had stomach reflex disorder and he had asperated stomach acid into his lungs, permanently scarring them. He lived his life with a trach tube, breathed oxygen 24 hrs a day and slept with a ventilator to assist his breathing.
His lungs got progressively worse in the last few years and his time spent on the ventilator machine gradually increased until last February when he ended up needing a portable ventilator to travel with.
On the morning of June 6, somewhere between 4 & 5 am, he got up to use the bathroom. He must have figured that he could make it to the bathroom and back to bed without his ventilator because he only took his small oxygen tank with him. He must have lost his breath on the way back to bed and sat down for a moment in the easy chair to rest. He ended up going unconscious and slid down to the floor at the foot of the chair. My wife found him around 6am when she got up for work.
Sorry if I blew your head with that, but you guys do deserve to know why I just abandoned you like that. If you didn't pick up that I logged on, no one would probably have ever known.
I just poked my head into the game to see who was still playing since the reset, but I'm honestly not sure if I have the heart to start up again. Everything I do reminds me of him, including logging onto this game, and it brings me down. The past 24 yrs was dedicated to taking care of him. Now it's like a big emptiness. And honestly, my wife needs my support more than ever.
If I don't come back full time, I'll poke my head in now and then.
I hope all is well with you. Say hello to rgrking for me.
I hope the holidays and the New Year brings Peace and Joy for all of you.
Talk to you later,
Billy Mac
