The only bone in the human body not connected to another is the hyoid, a V-shaped bone located at the base of the tongue between the mandible and the voice box. Its function is to support the tongue and its muscles.

Most bones in the human body are connected to each other at joints. But there are a few bones that are not connected to any other bone. Instead, they are connected only to tendons or are embedded in muscle. These are the sesamoids. The kneecap (patella) is the largest sesamoid. Two other very small sesamoids (about the size of a kernel of corn) are found in the underside of the forefoot near the great toe, one on the outer side of the foot and the other closer to the middle of the foot.

Fire ravages old Uxbridge mill
Bill Kessler, deputy chief of the Uxbridge Fire Department, was one of the few firefighters able to enter a burning mill building yesterday. It quickly became clear, he said, that the structure couldn't be saved.

UXBRIDGE -- He was only supposed to serve temporarily, but now he has signed on to a five-year deal as the head of Uxbridge's fire department.

Fire Chief Scott Richardson took over the reigns from outgoing Chief Simon Almond, who headed to the Pickering fire department in April. During that time, the Township put a call out seeking candidates for a permanent chief.

The Brannock Device is a measuring instrument invented by Charles F. Brannock for computing a person's shoe size. The son of a shoe industry entrepreneur, Brannock spent two years developing a simple means of measuring the human foot. He eventually improved on the wooden RITZ Stick, the industry standard of the day, and patented his first prototype in 1926. Brannock later formed the Brannock Device Company to manufacture and sell the product, and headed the company until 1992 when he died at age 89. Today the Brannock Device is an international standard of the footwear industry, and the Smithsonian Institution houses samples of some of the first Brannock Devices.

Electric chair history and laws in the United States
Color key: Only electric chair Secondary method only Once used electric chair, but does not today Has never used electric chair

Alfred P. Southwick developed the idea of using electric current as a method of execution after having witnessed an intoxicated man die after having touched an exposed terminal on a live generator.[1] As Southwick was a dentist accustomed to performing procedures on subjects in chairs, his electrical device appeared in the form of a chair.

The first electric chair was made by Harold P. Brown.

On May 25, 1979, John Arthur Spenkelink became the first electrocuted person after the Gregg v. Georgia decision by the Supreme Court of the United States in U.S. in 1976. He was the first person to be executed in the USA in this manner since 1966.

depends which bond

Bond acquired this habit from Fleming, who was smoking about 70 cigarettes a day when he died of a heart attack. Fleming and 007 both smoked specially made cigarettes from Morlands of Grovenor Street - a Macedonian blend with three gold rings around the butt (007 switched to a low-tar blend in John Gardner's books). He carries them in a wide gunmetal case. He lights them with a battered black oxidized Ronson. Connery, Lazenby and Dalton's Bonds smoked (Dalton's Bond was paid to smoke Lark cigarettes, although his films came with a written cancer warning). Roger Moore's Bond smoked cigars. Brosnan's doesn't smoke at all.

smirk420

* Here lies W. C. Fields. I would rather be living in Philadelphia. *

This was an epitaph Fields proposed for himself in a 1925 article in Vanity Fair. It refers to his long standing jokes about Philadelphia (his actual birthplace), and the grave being one place he might actually not prefer to be. This is often repeated as "On the whole, I'd rather be in Philadelphia.", or "All things considered, I'd rather be in Philadelphia." which he might have stated at other times. It has also sometimes been distorted into a final dig at Philadelphia: "Better here than in Philadelphia." His actual tomb at Forest Lawn in Glendale, California simply reads "W. C. Fields 1880 - 1946".

Each silk must be pollinated in order for the ovule to be fertilized and develop into a kernel. Typically, up to 1000 ovules form per ear, even though we typically harvest only 400 to 600 actual kernels per ear.

Oz is a common vernacular contraction of Australia (Australia - Aussie - Aus - Oz). Australia is a large continent predominated by desert regions, with pockets of intense green tropical, sub-tropical and sub-alpine greenlands and rainforests. It is quite possible that Baum took the popular nickname of Australia as the national name for his fictional world.

"I have a little cabinet letter file on my desk that is just in front of me. I was thinking and wondering about a title for the story, and had settled on the "Wizard" as part of it. My gaze was caught by the gilt letters on the three drawers of the cabinet. The first was A-G; the next drawer was labeled H-N; and on the last were the letters O-Z. And "Oz" it at once became"
