I was sitting on my couch watching a little television this afternoon. Off in the distance I heard a familiar sound that shouldn't be? As the sound drew nearer I started to recognize the sound of jet engines growing closer, not just any though. As I stepped outside to trace the sound I was greeted by a group of planes that represent my country, the snowbirds. As I watched them fly over my house I was blasted with the memories of Canada days past and airshows. It was amazing how a sound can flood you with memories like that, and the image of them in formation only enhanced it.

Later, we went over to a lookout point to watch the yearly fireworks display at Parliament Hill. Again, more memories of by-gone years. I realized once again what a privellege it is to live in a country that does not need to worry of the things some do today; no bombs, wars, holocausts, or genocides...

I am gratefull to live in Canada and wish it a happy birthday along with the millions of others who celebrated today. I would also like to say a premature shout out to my cousins of the south on their fourth of July.

Cheers, :drinks

Gotta love Canada, the only place where you can go 100 miles north, stay in a hotel exactly like ones back home, talk to people who speak exactly the same, get groceries at the same Red Apple, pay with very similar money, and come home saying "what a great vacation! So good to get away!" :drinks

The making of Canada as a self-governing Dominion, ie; Birthday for Canada.
Similar to your 4th of July....hence my remarks

I hardly ever post, but why would you say that? It goes entirely against the spirit of this thread. Happy Canada Day (though it was the first)

Google image search snowbunny. Quite NSFW, so be warned.

You could do a new thread, all I see is a re-emergence of Happy Canada Day.
