I used to play a game called Earth2025 5-6 years ago, it's not the same, it was turn based, but there are a few concepts that GEWar could borrow to make it more interesting.

There are things like government types, which give you certain benefits, technology research to make your armies more effective, spying, etc...

Copying another game is not the way GEW should go.

Real time stategy is not a new invention, it has been around... so has turn based strategy. Why not take the best of both and make an even better game, more interesting and challenging game. Isn't that the point? Did you even read the info at the website I gave?

Copying another game is not the way GEW should go.

Gewar was first touted as being "like risk" but using the google earth interface.

Be "inspired" by what has worked in other games within this genre of RTS and keep requesting features that you liked from other games. If it's possible to code and gets a good buzz - it's in!

...................... Or be araT and DEMAND "natural disasters" :nana (thus slowing down the implementation of my army experience suggestion)

Having technology in the game, like in the above game would be great, example...

Technology Descriptions

Military
Military technology helps to reduce the costs of buying new forces by decreasing the equipment expenditures. It also helps decrease maintenance costs of military by developing higher quality equipment.

Medical
By developing more advanced medical knowledge, your country will be able to reduce casualties during battle. This leads to a more stable military force and increased durability during war. Medical Technology is also vital to curing disease caused by biotech weaponry.

Business
By developing more advanced business methods and philosophies, your workers are able to increase their productivity and thus their per capita income. A higher per capita income, in turn, leads to higher tax revenues.

Residential
Developing the ability to improve residential complexes allows you to increase your maximum population without negatively affecting the people. By doing this, you in turn increase total revenues and tax income.

Weapons
By developing more advanced weapons technology, you can make your military stronger without adding volume. New weapons, better training, and more military knowledge can all help your forces fight more effectively by increasing their maximum readiness rating.

SDI
The Strategic Defense Initiative, SDI, is a ground-based weapons system designed to counter enemy nuclear and chemical missiles. While there is always a small chance of a missile getting through, the SDI can potentially destroy almost all incoming missiles from enemy forces. The proportion of missiles destroyed is based on the level of technology you have.

While we're at it, let's also rename GEWar to Civilization 5, or maybe Age of Empires 28?

Great, sounds good.

:beat

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Stick to creating new unit types, weather, ect.

The games mentioned above have 10-25 professional programmers working around the clock with budgets in the millions. Plus, their games aren't even based in realtime.

KEEP IT REALISTIC

why is everyone always negative, why be so conservative? think of ways to improve the game, not keep it as it is... the game must evolve!

How would technology work? Usually those are great for games that do not continue indefinately, but it would seem like here it would just make it so new players have an even longer road to go before they can compete.

I agree however that ideas should be drawn from great games which have proven themselves (like civilization).

The game is very simplistic now, not many different strategies one could use...IMHO to make the game more interesting it has to be more complicated...

Earth is the world's oldest webgame - the game that started it all! Take charge of building your own nation while competing with thousands of opponents.
Eventhough it is a turn based game, it has a lot of interesting concepts that could be applied to GEWAR.
For example:
1)Spies for example could bomb banks(destroy money), Stir Rebellions(temporarily decrease tax revenue from a city), sabotage oil rigs (cotton fields, diamond mines) temporarily decreasing production, demoralize army causing it to leave...

2)Planned attack - because of the planning, your offensive forces get a 50% bonus in attack strength but your forces will be placed in rehabiliation for about 12 hours and will not be able to attack or defend

there's plenty of other things as well...

demoralize army causing it to leave...

This already in the game! Well sort off. It's just a matter of demoralizing a playing, making them scared etc, there are a lot of tactics to this game.

I meant that your troops disappear, not move somewhere else...
