only 20,000 people but it is the center of the worlds largest coal fields the Bowen Basin suppies 2/3 of the worlds shipping coal just incase you want to start a new resource :)
oh and my base is in the heart of it :D

this site list the pop as only 13k (The last Australian population census was in 2001) over the last 15 years we have doubled the population every 5 years great boon here.
