Right at the North Pole. Population 1,000, but only worth 500 'cause elves are half size.

Although this all seems funny, Mcmurdo and now the north pole are strategic bases as they allow you to hop over the globe and station forces there very easily.

EG. McMurdo is a good way to jump from Australia to South America

Nope, armies move slower at the poles than at the equator - trust me, my homebase is on the south pole & it takes me 13 hours to get to McMurdo.. :confused: :(

LOL! Are you sure there isn't a glitch that makes your army march all the way around the other side of the globe?

Actually... maybe it's because your troops have to apply sunscreen every 5 minutes to keep their skin from melting off because of the ozone hole.

if nothing changed lately, distance is still angular (proportional to longitude/latitude differences) at the moment. This should eventually be improved...

i found this small JavaScript function on the web:

function distance(form){
var rad = 180 / Math.PI;
distmiles = 3960 * Math.acos(Math.cos((90 - form.startpointlat.value)/rad) * Math.cos((90 - form.checkpointlat.value)/rad) + Math.sin((90 - form.startpointlat.value)/rad) * Math.sin((90 - form.checkpointlat.value)/rad) * Math.cos((form.startpointlon.value - form.checkpointlon.value)/rad));
form.dist.value = Math.round(distmiles);
form.km.value = Math.round(distmiles * 1.609344);
form.nm.value = Math.round((distmiles * 1.609344) / 1.852);
}

Army path is a straight line - they just are slower, its how the troop movement algorithm works... ;)
