Hope this thread is ok with you guys, wanted a place I could ask some (at times) what may seem to be silly or stupid questions..... :confused:

Ok, I'll start

Question 1: Should I / Can I also play the game. (it is ok if we think "no") I really am looking forward to seeing GEWar grow and expand. I am certainly willing to not play for the overall good of the "project". I don't want anyone to ever claim "conflict".

Question 2: What does the * symbol mean next to players names in the online now section of the main page?

Question 3: Do we split up the threads/categories to MOD or is it a free for all first come first up format.

Question 4: Is profanity not allowed in member posts? What are our guidelines for MOD in member's posts? I am a MOD in Warriors and know that the guidelines for member posts are MUCH looser there.

anyway, just a few starter questions, if it is ok, I'd like to post more as we go along here..... :)

Sure, go for it! thats exactly what this forum is for :cool:

1: Yep you can play the game as much as you like :D you'll have no access to the database so theres no way you have any kind of advantage.

2: It means they are invisible, they choose not to let people see they are online - but because we are special, we can still see them :) - On a side note, when theres a + next to their name, it means you have them added as a buddy ;)

3: If you see it, fix it :) You're both in charge of everywhere!

4: I guess minimal swearing is ok - the script should automaticly censor it anyway, if they swear their heads off delete their post and send them a warning PM

What is our strategy on cheating? I know that it was a big concern (understatement) in the "previous" game? Are we somehow proactive on identifing possible cheats? Do we wait to be notified by the players then investigate (They are probably our best police!!)? The multiple account thing is probably what I see as one of the biggest offended.....

Ok, users will be PMing you reporting cheats frequently - to check out the suspects you can log into The ModCP (http://www.gewar.net/forums/modcp/index.php?) and do a username search or an IP search to see if people have multiple accounts. - keep in mind it may be like RoswellJam & TheMightySquigglies where they are coworkers on the same network in the same office. :)

Once we have confirmed that there is a cheater, we will ban them:
- For a first time offence: we temporarily ban them for a week and empty their account of stolen money - we havent decided how to do this yet, but theres a possibility of GEPD - police that go and kick their ass just to humiliate them in public, a sort of show for our users - like a public execution somewhat
- For repeat offenders: Instant permanent death. (Read: Account & IP Ban)

Tara will have access to the database so she can also check someones armies/troops/geos etcetera. At this point it still takes time to read that in the database, but I'm working on a seperate program that makes statistics from everyones playing behaviour. Then you can see right away how much someone has got and what he got yesterday.

And yes, go ahead and "delete" posts, just dont "physically remove" them :) Deleting posts leaves a mark there that only other mods & admins can see - gives us a chance to read it and make a mental note about that user, though if its just a duplicate post go ahead and "physically remove" it :cool:

2 things:

1) Is it smart to allow RomJ to post who he believes to be banned and for what reason they were (or actually weren't) banned. I see a post where he is reversing himself already. I know he appears to be a good guy and is apparently helping with the jeweling, but he may be out of bounds with what he believes to be the truth behind bans. If we want to parade cheaters, can't it be a sticky or closed thread only added to by Admins? I thought we had very strick rules for the posting of cheats on the forums by members.

2) Can all the lottery, etc games that members are adding be moved to a separate forum uh like Games for Geos? It is cluttering up and doesn't belong in the GEWar forums? P.S. does anyone smell trouble with these?
