Is there any official opinion on the use of invisible cities? Is it a neat hack, an exploit or?

I know I can find the cities and then place a marker, but it's kind of annoying. I'm sure newer players have a more difficult time because they may not be aware of all the cities that are supposed to be out there.

Thanks,
Gruss

I think we've had our fun with it and its gotten stupid - I'll get Luke to change the minimum transparancy to 50% :)

I made my cities invisble. So that means that it is still possible.

PS. I changed them back to visible

Enoughs enough.

The game is designed with a few colours to choose from, choose one of those.

I've been so busy with correcting the game to this page, and installing the forum and all that I had no time to take a look at that.

So I hope you will all help the game(and me) by just using a COLOR, the joke is over anyway.
When I'm done with the more important stuff, I'll take a look at that.

Thanks.

Players:

Luke has asked that until he has time to work down to the city color issue that you NOT make your cities appear invisible. There are still players that are using this option this morning. I am sending each a friendly PM ;) requesting that you change to a "visible" option.

Please let's support Luke and allow him the time to work on the major issues/features that we all hope to see in the future. I would hate to think that we need to stop the progress and spend his and the other programmers valuble time in these first very critcal days to fix this very small insignificant bug. Let's allow them the time here to work on the very critical issues.

sigh.............

if these guys want to play around with the rules by making their cities invisible why don't you just nuke them all.

just say you were doing nuclear testing and thought those were abandoned sites. clearly if there had been a population there you would have seen a city!

problem solved, rule benders dealt with

I'm with speedfreak, enough is well and truly past enough!

Nuke the rule evaders!

Bloody excellent idea, If you can't see anthing there then they can't moan at you for nuking them. BANG, oh sorry I didn't see you there!

P.s all of Maudis cities are invisible, and he has lots.

They should all be gone now, we both just checked through all the cities and there are none, so you should never see an invisible city again :D

The bugfix came from Bueth.
I just spent a long time in the database changing invisible cities back :p
And Arat double checked them in the game.
So it should be fixed.

Odd ball idea, but could you make it so that players with only one city had 25% transparency, players with up to 3 cities have 50%, and those with more at 75%? it would make it harder to have multiple cites, and progresively harder with more cities??
or maybe those that have played for up to a month are at 25, then up to 3 months is 50, and further is 75?

im not an expert, so i can't say how difficult it would be to do that, but if it is easy, it also helps to identify if you are dealing with somebody who has multiple cities or just one, or in the 2nd case, if they are a relatively new player vs expierienced player.

Jakubz,

First of all, there's no hiding when someone wants your city; if they want it, they'll find it. Besides, most people are probably going by the city list in the web interface as much as GE.

Second, please post suggestions like this in Feature Suggestions instead of reviving a thread that has been dead since last year.
