How about paying freelance geologists to scout out good places to spot resources? They could be payed say 10 geos for each spot they look at? I feel that this would add another 'real' element to the game. Any thoughts?

I don't really understand what you are trying to bring in here...

Is this spots for new types of resource or good spots for current resources?

I think he means, instead of blindly digging diamond mines everywhere and ending up with 50 carats a day, you hire a scouter to tell you the ideal place to dig the mine to gain more return. But if it's only for 10 geos there's no point not hiring one since it would always guarantee you better payoffs, so in the end it would just make it so people are paying 60 geos per resource, but the element of chance is gone.

I think what he meant is it works kinda like a preview. Like you can either pay 50 geos to dig the mine/well/field, or you could pay a fee to have the info regarding how many resources you would get if you built one there. And you could keep doing it until you found a good one, and then you could build it.

I like it, but I think there should be a limit, like 1 resource (though perhaps unlimited tries within that resource) per 36 hours, so that you have to choose which one you wanted to get a really good return on.

Edit: also, since you would have unlimited tries, at a fixed fee, it could end up to not be profitable if you kept getting bad readings.

This has been mentioned several times in the past and I think it's on the to-do list. Something along the lines of paying 75 for a resource that has a significant chance to not be a dog.

Exactly what I meant. I think 35 Geos would be a more realistic fiigure though.
