As of 2003 Córdoba had a population of about 1,350,000 inhabitants, making it Argentina's second-largest city.
Might want to look at Rosario too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosario but I think it might be a bit close in the middle of Córdoba and Buenos Aires.
