View Full Version : Treasure hunt -CLOSED-
Ok long time since I did a game...
It's a hard one.
We are going treasure hunting:
http://pacificcoast.net/~greg/Hispaniola.jpg
I am looking for a place in Google Earth. Just make a snapshot and upload it here as an attachment(or hotlink it) with a small explanation why that is the place I am looking for. I will not answer PM's about this game. Do everything in this thread.
It is a hard game, thats why the prize is high.
Here is the hint:
http://www.artlex.com/ArtLex/s/images/secess_hoffm_cutlery_lg.jpg
And the second hint: Birq has joined skull and bones.
Good luck.
First one with the possible right answer of the treasure wins.

That is the volcanic island of Montserrat in the Caribbean
Yes it is....now what do I do with it or did you just wanted to send me a nice picture of an island? :D
toiletduck 09-11-2006, 01:44 PM Sorry to steal your link Rom hehe
but

Birq is or currently going on holiday to the carribeans
Ah I didn't know that actually....about his vacation :)
So that wasn't what I was looking for :p
RomulusJ 09-11-2006, 01:53 PM Its a Pirate Island and yea what she said about birq. Its has a volcano (The utensils the center one is a bowl so the bowl of a volcano)
GIMMEE GIMMEE GIMMEE
edit:
First one with the possible right answer of the treasure wins.
I have a POSSIBLE right answer..
GIMMEE GIMMEE GIMMEE :p ;woop
toiletduck 09-11-2006, 01:54 PM well. im stumped. either Birq has taken up etching or ceramics. or im totally on the wrong track.
I'll explain 'possible' right answer, without trying to give any clues away.
It's a small area...but answers can lead to any 'place' in that small area.
So the whole area would be correct to me, or any 'place' in that area.
And yes, you were on the wrong track both :D
THEOtheGREAT 09-11-2006, 02:04 PM is it santorini??????

As a Former Games Master I would be editing out the possible so damn fast its not funny.
Daaaamum... Its in Hispanila.. Aka the Caribiean its pirates... and its a volcano....
What more do you need?! I mean really it all fits and only took me a moment to go Eureka! :D
THEOtheGREAT 09-11-2006, 02:05 PM because I feel like it is!!!!!!!
toiletduck 09-11-2006, 02:06 PM Plymouth is currently abandoned due to the never ending eruptions of the volcano. around this area, are huge rock faces with sandy beaches and many coves to hide ones treasures.
Montserrat has only two islets: Little Redonda and Virgin. and i dont exactly think birqs sexuality or anything has to do with this game, so i dont think the islet of Virgin has anything to do with it.
Where did the volcano come from? Did I say anything about volcanos?
toiletduck 09-11-2006, 02:08 PM no but its a small area
toiletduck 09-11-2006, 02:10 PM there is always Chances Peak.
Ok well forget anything about volcanos because as far as I know there are no volcanos :p.
And should there by coincidence be a volcano, then it was one I knew nothing about.
RomulusJ 09-11-2006, 02:21 PM Where did the volcano come from? Did I say anything about volcanos?
The middle spoon really its the caldera (bowl) of a volcano.. REALLY its OBVIOUS

The Skull and Bones Society is a fraternal organization based at Yale University in New Haven, CT
Still not what I'm looking for :). Told ya this one could be hard :D

Post by John Birq on googlewack.
edit the silverware represents Enron stock rising and falling.
am I grasping at straws here?
RomulusJ 09-11-2006, 03:04 PM http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c62/RomulusJ/Wildguess.jpg
It was leveled by Barbaroosa the Pirate.. I think if I did find Apteria
Nice picture. Not what I was looking for, but still nice.
RomulusJ 09-11-2006, 03:20 PM Nice picture. Not what I was looking for, but still nice.
Is it close?
ghetto bob 09-11-2006, 03:24 PM Nice picture. Not what I was looking for, but still nice.
I take it that goes for post #20 as well. :'(
If you compare how far it is from Aptera to Mars, then you are close. Otherwise I think not.
And yes, counts for post #20 as well :p
hurcoll 09-11-2006, 07:45 PM Anything related to Josef Hoffman and the Wiener Werkstätte?
Anything related to Josef Hoffman and the Wiener Werkstätte?
Come again?
hurcoll 09-11-2006, 07:57 PM The cutlery in the image was designed by Josef Hoffman, Austrian, founder of the Wiener Werkstate....

Ehhhh you think toooo far and too smart :D
My games are so hard because you have to turn off your intelligence first :D
hurcoll 09-11-2006, 08:51 PM better image...
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/7/79/15thcenturyhispaniola.JPG/800px-15thcenturyhispaniola.JPG
It looks great, but I wouldn't even know where that is ;101
hurcoll 09-11-2006, 09:02 PM http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/7977/hispaniolaik5.jpg
Oh thanks. Well in that case..................it's incorrect :)
palau 09-11-2006, 09:56 PM Is the picture of "Hispaniola" board game in the first post a hint?
hurcoll 09-11-2006, 10:22 PM Here is the map to the treasure...
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/b/b6/Treasure.Island.map.jpg/369px-Treasure.Island.map.jpg
Which is located in Skeleton Island...
Which some claim it was inspired on one of the British Virgin Islands:
http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/433/britishvirginislandsea1.jpg
Although others claim the inspiration came from the small islands in Queen Street Gardens in:
http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/1184/edinburghhe6.jpg
In order to get there they used the ship Hispaniola
http://www.amitylearning.com/treasure/images/treas1.gif
Any luck?
Well......I thought this one was harder then that. ;slap
You won.
Skeleton island, which could be any of those places.
The first hint was the ship Hispaniola.
The second was silver.
The third was Birq's real name: John.
Long John Silver's Treasure Island.
Skull and bones: Skeleton
Skeleton Island.
Typing in a combination of 2 hints in google would lead one in the right direction.
petrocks666 09-11-2006, 10:29 PM OK, way out on a limb here.....

birq mention "skull" in one post, bolded and red. It is about agent Shap. Shap UK is the only Shap on the map, so go there. He also mentions "bones" and it is red and bold, and mentions something about the basics of GE. Using only the google earth community KML's, you find a placemark for "hill of skuls," which is on a listing of all megaliths in England. The silverware can be seen as both megaliths and a hill, matching the post. Also, megaliths mark gravesites, which can be another possible application of the "birq skull and bones clue"

...
...
I'm probably way off :sad
Nice thinking Petrock, but incorrect as you saw already :p
You also thought too hard I think, but nice explanation anyway :D
Mercury 09-11-2006, 10:30 PM This has been solved and hurcoll won...
Good job hurcoll!!!
Now the thread is closed too...
