I hope you're not truly using Excel for the random determination are you? Excel does NOT have a suitable rng by any stretch of the imagination.

I'd suggest using Random.org

Put your contestants in Excel, assign them all sequential numbers, then use the Random Integers Generator (http://www.random.org/nform.html), which lets you enter the limits for the smallest and largest numbers, then hit enter and voila.

This is as random as you can realistically get, nice and simple too :)
