Hey Listen this is the only time you will ever catch me being Patriotic, besides if I do not support my home country my life at home will be pretty boring from the 10th June.
As for Rooney he is not the be all and end all of English Footie!! That is not to say he will not be missed though.

At the end of the day we Gerrard and Owen and they will push it forward for us.

If I was, I would be all over Michael Owen.

He is the man.

And I have dibs on USA to not win.

Football (sorry we don't call that soccer) has been invented by the English. The brasilians made it beautiful but at the end it's always the Germans who wins (this is not really the case anymore but it used to be !)
I can't remember which famous footballer said that. Anyone knows ?

I am rooting for the US but they have a very tough draw. As a betting man my money would go on Brazil. Just for fun I am going to root for the Ivory Coast because they have never been here before...

Great link.

I have Brazil playing the US in the first round of 16. Poor US. Brazil and France in the final.

What a bloody game... I was expecting so much from Arsenal. Do you think Thierry Henry will stay ?

scaryhotdog
05-18-2006, 06:47 PM
I hope so...I really do, though we are rivals, he plays some amazing footy and somtimes watching him is such a pleasure. Though I thought he was just annoyed at the result, I didn't think he was going to leave. He has seemed very frustrated recently, and yet occasionaly he plays some inspired football, and has been on good form recently. To be quite honest, I don't know, and although fun, there is little point debating it, because I mean we will find out soon enuff!

I can't wait the world cup. It's gonna be brilliant with so many amazing good players ! What I like in England is that people already put the flags on the car, balconies... U can feel that this country is all behind his team (even if they not gonna win :nana )

I have my flag :) But the rooney situation..

it is shocking that the whole of England waits in anticipation for one lad to get fit..although peter Crouch is our No1 striker in for rooney.. ;drunk

This is one of the best England side I think i have seen..and c'mon, they'll have to win it, or do ya think we'd let them back in to the country if we lost to Germany or France in the knockout stages? ;)

grenoblois
05-18-2006, 07:35 PM
Yeah there's a lot of very good player in the England team however they have to play as a team and I think this has been the main problem in the past.
Regarding the strikers, it's a bit scary : one guy injured at the moment (Rooney); another who's been injured a long time (Owen), a kid who didn't even play a premiership game (Walcott). And I don't know what to think about Crouch (we haven't seen him on the FA cup final). Luckely you have Gerrard !!

That is so funny I very nearly mentioned 1966 in my last response, because apparently you have to mention 1966 as many times as you possibly can!!

Did you know Geoff Hurst scored 3 and Martin Peters scored 1 when we beat Germany 4-2 in 1966.

If you are playing to bet on the football, then why not use http://www.dozenholes.com/ to keep track of it.

It is a site that allows you to keep track of all your bets, and who owes who what. You can bet anything you like (including Geos)

Yes, the name is a little suspect, but read the description of why it is names this way...

*a few minutes later*

OK, I have set up a group on the site called GEWar, the password is secret. Sign up the the group here (http://www.dozenholes.com/joingroup.php)

Or there is this one:
http://www.excely.com/worldcup2006.zip

Go Australia

Although highly unlikely.

I'm going for Brazil (or Brasil)

England: A country that invent games that they suck at (cricket, football (soccer), rugby, etc)

Anyway, about the betting thing, sounds good.
Could start a tipping competion.
eg. http://proj1.fit.qut.edu.au/itb007/2006_1/team035/default.aspx (first site I foundon Google (http://www.google.com.au/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2006-13,GGLJ:en&q=world+cup+tipping))

Does "suck" mean "excel"?

Cricket: Ashes
Football: edged out last time by the eventual Champions.
Rugby: World Champions
