Just a thought...what about a Hold'em Tourney. I believe the poker sites (party poker, etc etc) let you set up private play money tables...I'm sure there's a site out there that will let ya..or hell maybe Luke can set one up on gewarriors..

anyways...make it a 1,000 geo entry or something and we play until there's only 1 person left. We would have to find a site that lets you have multi-table tourneys though...just think 100 people enter...yup $100,000 geos...we could stair step the prize money so the top 10 get something. If there's a site like that would be easy...set it up...once you deposit your entry fee you will receive the password to the room...etc..etc..etc...piece of cake

Time Zones are the problem here. If I win a regional table, as do 9 others, then we have to wait for a time when all other players are online so that we can play on the final table - could be a logistical nightmare. If you set up a table and a URL link, I'm in! 1000 buy in. No limit (quick games a good game), and just play them on the cuff like that from time to time.

A full set up tourney will be way too hard to manage I feel. OMI is hard enough!

If I sponsored three tournaments each the games for each section will occur during 8 hour periods every Saturday or Sunday (IE Start 12Noon, Sydney for Tourney 1, 12 noon Riyahd contest 2, 12 Noon Washington DC contest 3.

I would prefer NOT to administer the game but I could, meaning keep track of the registry and such, clarify rules.

IE - You fail to appear you forfit. You have to leave before the game ends you forfit all those mean nasty rules.

But again I don't want to manage it if I don't need to.

I think 1,000 Geo registry is cool.. We could have the following prize payouts 50% #1, 20% #2, 10% #3 5% #4 with 15% going to the administrator(s) or just 60% 1st 25% #2. if the admins want to work for free

Making the different time zones work would be hard but some of us would just have to suck it up and play all night. I bet 1000 geos there is at least 100 hard core gamers playing GEwar that have pulled all nighters before and carried on as usual the next day.

I'm all for a poker tourney though. However I believe when I first suggested this several months ago, people complained about encouraging kids to gamble.
