I understand that there are probably kinks left to be worked out, but are the jewels intentionally difficult to find? So far Chernobyl and Mt. Whitney have been especially difficult. Perhaps this is the way things are going to be in the new game. Just curious. Thanks for your time and all the effort put into this.

There is probably a better way to do this, but I am not terribly computer savvy. Anyway, to locate Mount Whitney, I searched for Lone Pines, which is 10 miles away, to no avail. I ended up lucking into the mountain using latitude & longitude. I can type "Panama Canal" into the search toolbar, and it goes to the Panama Canal, but does not locate a jewel. Latitude and Longitude hasn't work either, I imagine because it is not a precise locale.

Almost the same problem with Grand Canyon. But everything solved when I downloaded Micky's file from GEH... :o

Search for "Mount Whitney" in the GEH file database and download the KML file that goes with it. It will take you to right were the jewel is.

This is clearly meant for people more advanced than me. I don't understand what the GEH file database is, nor where it is. I have traversed the entire length of the Panama Canal, which seems to be precisely located at 9'00'35 N, 79'36'11 W. However, I can't get the jewel icon to appear. I am also not bright enough to figure out how to skip this location and move onto the next one.

i believe that there is a file floating around that has placemarks over almost all jewel sites.

If someone could post that for johnja97 it would probably help most of all.

By the way, good to be here on the new server! :)

I think someone fixed the Stonehenge jewel ... I found it once by the old location, then next time it was by the "real" Stonehenge :(

there is a page, i think it's www.googleearthhacks.com.
and if the moon stands in the northwest, at the 13. of november, at exactly 11:11, you can see a box in the upper right corner of this glorious page.
if you enter now, what you are searching for (it really works) and open the file in google earth (now it gets scary...)
BOOOOOOOM
a red icon appears and if you move your mouse against it and click it...
i can do it, you can do it, we all can do it!! together we are strong :D

or use this:

ohh, man, no kmz/kml attachments?

yust go on the glorious page and there is a thread called nice little helpers, download it there...
