I sorta want to cut my teeth on my own. I do have some honest logistical questions before I try my hand at the warpath, though...

How many troops are in a good-sized army? How many should you leave back at your base? Is there any way to see the size of the army you're attacking?

Is there any place to check out the amount of oil you would theoretically be spending on travel?

I don't know, I may have other noob questions, I just can't think of them right now. I appreciate your help in advance!

Size is easy. More than who you are fighting. Base depends on how valuable the city is to you.

It's always different there is no set formula.

likk, you don't have to keep any troops in your homebase, it cannot be destroyed, you may want to probe (attack) the cities around you with a small army to get an idea of how many troops they are being held with. There is no way to know the army size you are facing until you attack it.

When you send out an army the page will show you:
Distance to travel: 5,576km
Travel speed: 90km/cron
Approx travel time: 310 minutes
Oil needed for travel: 186 barrels.

This varies based on army size, so keep that in mind, if you have any specific questions please feel free to send me a pm

Alright. Thank you both, I really appreciate it.
I have a couple more questions if you don't mind my asking...

Can you run out of room for cotton fields or do I have a bug? My game keeps telling me I'm placing cotton fields too close together no matter where I move within that white square.
Have I just placed my poorly? Are those spaces determined globally? Or am I having an issue?

Also, some days my resources don't collect. I don't know why, but it happened a few days ago and again today. Why would that be...?

You should join a team. GOH or Chestbursters, or Locusts. Looking at where your HB is you are probably not going to accomplish much as a new player unless you get some team assistance. I can tell looking at your history that you've had challenges already.

Having said that - It is always useful to PM players that own a city near your HB to ask them if they'll lt you hold a couple of cities while you figure things out.

As for resources - you can search these forums for jewel files, cotton field spacing files etc. Don't stop asking questions. You'll get a lot of help.
