View Full Version : Like/Dislike Button
At each post you will now see a 'Like' button. I haven't found a better button that suits this layout yet, but I'll keep on looking for that.
No explanation needed what the Like button does, I guess.
*edit: Update with a Dislike button. You can only use Like Or Dislike(not both).
Another thing is you can't like your own posts(however just for fun I made it so you can dislike your own post :) ).

It reminds too much of facebook lol We should have our own unique button.

I really think a reddit-like system of upvote/downvote or like/dislike would be the best, thanks for the newest addition, I'm thinking that it should look like a nuke launch button for a downvote, like nope nuking that comment to oblivion, and for the upvote button maybe have a "Send support" or something, I dunno just thinking aloud here
I think its awesome, cheers Luke. :) Could change the icon but atleast we got a like button now!

Like this icon?
that's awesome, if Gewar logo as unique button more better. :D
Well there are probably players around here that can do more with Photoshop than me :). They may take a swing at it if they wish.

Ok these are crap but if you like I can make em nicer. No point unless you like.
The idea is good. But the buttons aren't 'smooth' enough. Especially the left top.
What we need to find to do this right are empty vbulletin buttons. I have found them before. But where?

Oh I just slapped em together. No point in spending an hour if u hate the idea.

I am NOT a graphics designer though I have played one on tv. But if you email me the psd'd I can blast out mods like that in minutes.
And you own the artwork... I know cause I helped make the tanks with Apollosmith. So no worries about copyright.
I've uploaded the blank button. If anyone thinks they can make a better one.
The tanks didn't work as the resolution was too low(res of the tanks that is).
You need the scale the width to 75 though, and then check if the button still looks good.

this better?
No I had that one too(except i had green tank on like). To make it blend in with the other images, the image on the button needs to be bigger. Even by a few pixels go outside the button. Check the other images of buttons here at vbulletin.
And that is where the problem with the tanks start.....looks terrible if you make those bigger.

YEah I am really not willing to spend the time on it.. I just do not have it.
If I was you I would suggest maybe animating the buttons with like :cheesy for like and :crazy for dislike. Or ramp up the tank pics.
But I have not done animated buttons for 15 years since the hotline days.
You need more than photoshop and I would have to search to find something.. So I am out.. sorry. I can do modifications on those buttons in secs, but more elaborate takes time i dont have.
Well at the moment we are stuck with those I made tonight from the blank button(thanks for that).
One should be able to do it with photoshop. But then again...to me it's not really that important how they look as long as they blend in a bit. I'm fine even with how it is now. Also not really willing to put more time in this :). Thanks for the effort.

How about it? I made some change........ :p
That actually looks really smooth. The only thing is that the grenade is too big. This would make the button 100px instead of 80 max. And if I downsize it to 80px, the button suddenly looks a lot smaller as only 60px of it are left. So the best thing is to downsize the grenade itself to 75px, and leave 70px for the button(then the grenade is still a bit bigger than the button).
The other thing is I wouldn't use the grenade on the opposite side like with the dislike. I would go for a different picture on 1 of them and leave it on the left side, so it more blends in with the rest of the button.
But does look a lot smoother than my buttons.

Thanks, which picture you prefer as dislike button? I will try to fix it tonight. By the way, what is the font you using? Arial font?
Don't know what image actually. Something less good :p.
Font...eh I believe it's called Tamaho or Tamoha? That is the font vbulletin used for their buttons.

That really looks very good, well done :)
There is only 1 problem now(always 1). It's not a transparent gif. The original is a transparent gif, which is needed here(or otherwise it will look like hell :p ).
If correct, you made a .jpg from the .gif. Can you upload the original .gif you made? Then we can use it :). Thanks.

I can try, but will they not have lost their transparency?
