Hey,

I'm sorry to say that from this moment on, homebases will not be deleted anymore.
If you placed it, you have to deal with it...unless you place it on the north or southpole, or in the middle of the ocean.

For the rest you are stuck to it. That counts for everyone.
The reasons:
1) I'm busy moving about 20 homebases a day, and this takes up time I really don't have. I was answering about 200PM's today and moving homebases take up time while in first place they shouldn't be moved anyway

2) And most important one: A glitch can happen while deleting them...armies underway and armies outside are suddenly there in the middle of nowhere. This really confuses people.

Now I'm going to code a feature these days that may let you delete your own homebase for an amount of...lets say 10k geos? Only if there are no armies underway or outside that is. That should take a lot of time out of my hands.

Thanks,

Luke

One thing that will cut out a lot of the request to move homebases is if you allow new players to download the city kml first. This way people will not accidently put their homebase in the middle of nowhere.

That is a very good point indeed.

I am sorry but people who plant their home base in the arctic of Canada or the Sahara Desert (or is is Dessert (snow Cones! Just Don't eat the yellow ones!) ) or Australia or in Hawaii deserve to be laughed at.

Those that put them in the oceans or poles deserve to be smacked by Luke for not following the rules of set up.

That said I think being able to download the city KLM or maybe I'll figure out how to get a image of the continents with cities so people can see where population centers are in the game is a good idea.

Now that is a good idea. If newbs can have an idea of where cities are beforehand, even if its just a screenshot, it should also cut down on this problem dramatically. (although i imagine that a screenshot would look ridiculously crowded depending on what size you can make it!)

Well said...

If I had the chance to see where the cities were BEFORE I put my homebase... OMG!
And if I had the chance to know that Luke receives so many requests to change the homebase and changes it BEFORE he puts this thread.... OMG again... :beat

ha! yeah i had no idea so many requests came through from people wanting to change their homebase. I always thought you were stuck with what you had regardless. I know that before the last reset i really wanted to move from where i was, but thought that it was just too bad, and just lived with it. :sad

Many people think that and that is the way it should be.

This move will then turn homebases into (expensive) waypoints and add some extra strategy.

You'll (probably) also see many armies sitting outside of/travelling to homebases just so that they can't be moved. If this is the case, I think that THE THREAD (http://www.gewar.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1705) about removing lines (paths) from non-travelling (stationary) armies should get the go-ahead.

I suppose we can now at least wait for the option of purchasing a new homebase. @ 10k a pop a bargin!

Some home bases have been in the sea for a very long time.
