So, this brings up something I've remember a while ago as far back as Beta.
There's this general 24 hour rule that if a city is hit and run, the original player can get it back WITHIN those 24 hours right?
It's like a code of honor kinda thing?
So... After those 24 hours, if it's not reclaimed, it's free to be kept by the new owner... Or something like that right? Or through nice PM's, the original owner can get it back?

SOOO, this brings up another question... Within those 24 hours, if the city is claimed by someone else, is that city still up for grabs for anyone else???

I never thought about this until now lol

I was reading this with my mouth open...there's really a code of honour like this invented by players? :p

In my playing days cities did not have owners. Every city was yours, as long as you could obtain it by attacking :p.

haha WELL, i considered it a code of honor, or something along those lines because that's what I was told when i was first played. There's generally a 24 hour rule that the original owner can ask for it back.
Then it got complex and people held cities for ransom, now people just grab it and keep it or something.

hhahaha and of course, there's more honor on some players than others.
Kinda like the idea of every city as yours but then if you take someone else's city it's risking losing ALL of your cities. Feels like a win-loss esp for people that are busier than others.

leon these days people are like vultures to get to open cities... City returns doesn't happen as much as it used to, even if you do pm and ask. Times have changed

I say a pole needs to be created for this issue to see where people stand on this.

I for one do not agree on giving a city back after h&r and Im not going to ask for a city back either. I will just take it back...;11150 cent style!! POP A CAP IN YOUR ASS!

No rules in gewar, if there were then friends wouldn't attack eachother in Jerusalem.

haha....
Yeah, city return requests are stuff from 2007 or so. That was the time when I joined and lots of players were really playing like this, they returned hit-run cities for a fee of 10 times city tax etc. And there were large blocks of alliances NAPed with each other. That was scaring the crap out of the really old vets from 2005 who got to know gewar when it was brand new and everyone just attacked till he was broke. Then he would jewel, continue fighting and so on. At least, that's what I was told.
Now we are fortunately back in the times where most people don't try to ask for return.

lol we didn't attack till we were broke :p. Some might've, btu that would be silly gameplay. A short burst of fun and then start from scratch?

We played carefully and jewelled a lot at the beginning. Then when we reached a 100k geos, we started attacking with the money we made each day from city tax, jewelling and interest from the 100k geos.

So we normally always stayed at a 100k geos. And if an alliance mate didn't have a 100k, we usually helped him/her to get there too so he/she could join the party.

We attacked everyone. Alliances that were NAP'd for a short period usually funded outsiders to do the attacking so your NAP'd alliance would still get attacked without breaking your 'honour'. Only the newbies were save in general. They got protection in the hope they'd stick around and perhaps later become an alliance mate.

Oh yeah that was the time of big saving plans. The goal was to get everyone to 100k geos in order to plan a massive hit on the enemy. But then there were the alliance members that could never stick to that plan and always had fights and never reached anything near 100k geos but made the alliance diplomats sending lots of PMs to smooth over the damage done. That was the time when literally days were spent for negotiation between alliances... does anyone here still do that? I hope not :D

I have seen huge negotiations go on for last few versions... but I usually just wait till people hit me then I go for broke.

lol thomas, remember when TLI went after Natives? I think that was the round when interception was first introduce. All of TLI just sent armies from practically EVERY city and homebases from Africa to S. America. I'm sure we lagged the server quite a bit.

you used to be able to profit from city returns

I remember that, armies coming from South America and Africa to battle it out wherever they met

I recently recived a PM asking for a city back but Im sorry this is a war game. I wont ask for a city back and dont want one. If you want a city I picked up you attack me for it. I allways hated NAPs. They was one of the reasons I disappeared from GEwar for so long. I am glad to see many do not honor this request anymore.
