A reset has just been done to the GEWar world. Resources are a bit down, and upkeep costs a bit higher. This is just for the first days after a reset.

Later in this thread more information. I would recommend everyone to place their homebase a.s.a.p. and get a small advantage already.

More information:
Due to a servercrash of the development-server, the newest game-feature was delayed. I don't want to work on the live version anymore(a week or so ago we saw what can happen if I do when for 10 minutes the server gave a database error).

There are some new functions coming, including army splitting and army interception and more.

New this round from the start is the homebase movement, and the pokerroom(which link you can find in the total bottom of the forum). Also when upgrading to level 3, your geo and oil bonus is a bit higher than previous rounds.

I put my question into this thread as I liked the start of this reset, because it was straight and an efficient one.

would there be a chance to try a fixed date for alliance ranking + player ranking and whatever else Staff will bring up ?
Even that date would not cause a reset just define a period where we all go for certain goals...

for example.... 1.8.2011, 12.00 AM server time is the next date where we have our results and then they would be transferred into the hall of fame...

I am sure there could come up many better ideas than my simple example...

but for me it seems that if we try that out it could help to make people stay into our game.......

would like to add something to my question ......

would it be possible to define a period like 1 month in which the average city value of an alliance would lead to a ranking result..
Even we could have a competition for alliances with 1-5 player, 6-10, 11-25 (just an example)

imagine the action in here if we all would know the start and end date....:love

Alliances would save up all round Laoma and only hit when its coming close to the end of a round, basically the game would stagnate, at least I fear that would happen.

I have always been one who liked the idea of no millions at the end of a round and you knew the rounds end date, as well as there had to be something in place to make alliances have to fight for a full round to earn a title. If we could cover all of those ideas, it would be so much better.

I understand your concern SJ...but think about that if an alliance only could win by average value, there would be no chance to sit and wait until the last day..

Average value could be another hall placement or an award. Of course we would need to have a minimum number of members (5-6) to keep that honest.

Edit: i like the idea of monthly recognition. We couldn't automate that right now, but maybe build toward that soon. Good idea.

Ok assuming that a few changes to the alliance leader are made... and assuming one of them is ability to choose alliance color..
The what about a special color for the previous months winners.

Like that alliance leader can do city one color and text an other. easy change...

I love when people throw in those words. As for the PB idea, yeah that might be doable. As you know one of my focuses is to rework the way alliances are done. Most of the ideas came from players and some are unique...We could always try and build this in as well.

Personally, I would prefer that awards, individual or alliance, stay with the player. Which is another high profile change I want to make. Make it so the player page is more then just a name and a list of their cities. Maybe even carrying that over to alliances is a good idea (give the alliance page more detail as well). Show their 3 week and 5 week trending average value, their placement weekly, etc.

Of course, that requires a change in the way we handle alliances. Currently we just dump that table and allianceID=1 is whoever creates the first alliance every round. I think I have a solution for that, but I need to think about it/bounce it off of others before we go that route.

I like the ideas on here so far, would be great to see some additional stat/reporting areas being added, plus changes to the way alliances work would be good too from what I've heard so far.

I put these on another thread some time ago, but any chance of stats/awards/tables being added for:

1) Effectiveness score for players (total HPs killed/total time online that round)

2) Effectiveness score for a whole alliance.

3) Longest time holding a city league table.

4) Award for best defended city (i.e. the number of consecutive times a city was attacked by an enemy or one of their armies was killed outside the city, without the city being taken). Possibly this could be adapted to number of attacking hps killed without losing the city.

5) Total HPs killed by an alliance.

6) Nuke league table - most nukes launched and nuke effectiveness possibly.

7) Award for highest number of cities held at any one point - player and alliance.

Dunno how easy those would be to create and/or report on. Also, I'm a bit of a geek around stats like this so maybe the admins would see it as overkill (there's a lot of geeks around here though haha).

after I really understand why 80% of my employees play that ..... game "farmville" it was obvious for me that almost any online game need the chance for a history to build up by a player....
if Gewar offer the possibilty as you mentioned it would be a step further to a healthy situation

I like that idea, and as Prophet said if we have a minimum number of players it would make it honest.

I hate seeing those who sit all round and do nothing until the end of a round. It makes a mockery of those who strive for a full round to keep their heads above water. I have more respect in that instance for those who try for a full round to fight and utilise the game, than those who sit and do nothing. I think from my mind in those instances it is almost disrespectful to the game as whole, if you understand what I mean. Sorry if I am not making myself clear lol

Agreed
Last version I did not convert my resources from month 1 to month 5.
Knowing the game never goes longer than 6 mo I then attacked some people who would make big armies but I never held cities except as lures and I probably spent 10 hours with armies moving the whole version and came in 20th.

I never held cities yeah that's another game issue that needs to be addressed dare I bring it up again? Homebase stealage...

I got your point and I am sure that Prophet and I have the similar understanding..
it should not be to easy to get an award like it was before,

Maybe it cost a bit time to code what Prohpet mentioned..but if the evaluation is done by average in between a fixed schedule...which should not be to short or too long..you would be surprised about game activity....

it must be counted the value you get from that second it starts..
not what the alliance had before....
if that is technically possible and we could have a daily score list which shows the development.....
well we are becoming a hot situation in here....
that doesn't need to be done every month as this would be an extra award..
by my idea it would reflect the strong ability of a team.....
and even more important, it would have a great influence given noobs or other alliance a big chance to gain cities....much more efficient than Raban was before....
(still I would love to be a real Raban, with a huge bank account, sigh)

:evil......and sure it would also give the possibility to shut some big mouth in here...

I went into the game trying to see how high I could get not doing anything but fighting every few weeks with huge armies..
Point was made and I am now sold on time to redo the way we do things.

It's good you did that though PB as you saw there was a need for change, and I agree Laoma :)
