I was just checking out Ospreys page and his avatar gave me a idea. This idea maybe has been discussed before I don't know...But what about having planes in addition to tents and tanks. The planes will cost twice as much as troops and take out twice as many troops. The planes will also make it to a city faster like a nuke does. You can also buy planes to defend your city against an air attack. Alot of people would like to have instant gratification instead of waiting an hour or two for troops to arrive. I believe planes would give old and new players something new...

I like Cash. I think similar stuff have been mentioned but it's always nice to discuss again.
So you buy a plane like you would armies but planes cost more and travel faster?

Planes would have to consume twice as much oil as well, I think.

Thanks SB, the planes could cost 100 geos, travel like a nuke, and use double the oil (thanks DMoney) Also can build up HP just like troops like level1 biplane to level 5 stealth bomber.

Cash like the idea, and I think we would see people become more active again.
We all talk about getting more players and keeping people active these are the changes in the game that might make that happen. Have know idea of the work it would take or time. I hear other ideas but I think it comes down to simple changes that make the game more interesting.
Think about this we complain about hit and run attacks well thats what the planes can be used for. Planes cannot hold a city but can attack and kill defending armies. Also you would need to buy anti aircraft defenses for your cities to stop this type of attack.
3 different types of armies Infantry Armored and Aircraft. Combined attacks or combined defense. It would change the tactics used in attacking and defending very dam interesting.
I hear all this talk about how much coding it takes. Dont these codes already exist. Nuke/Aircraft Nuke shield/anti aircraft batteries. Simple changes no ?

Simple changes...sure. Just rename an army to plane and imagine it's moving faster.
Alright bad jokes aside, the plane is something we've discussed before. Two types of planes. One that could move troops and one that can bomb cities and Homebases :). Doing this isn't easy, but it's also not difficult. Right now the big hurdle is the amount of available code time we have (none).
Planes would probably move at 5-7 times the speed of foot soldiers. They would have to do round trips. Oil would be costly (my guess would be round trip foot soldier x 20). The cost to purchase would be up there as well (think nuke cost..or higher). They could be reused, but they can also be destroyed at the homebase.
Also you would need to buy anti aircraft defenses for your cities to stop this type of attack.

There's a lot to discuss on this topic. I know we started down the road of multiple attack types, but got stuck at certain points. I would have to go back a few years to see why we got stuck, but you guys should dump your thoughts out...it never hurts to have more input.

Just make another block under troops block on armies page.

The plane could hit multiple targets but must land in your city to pick up more bombs.
Nukes should go up in price so they are not used as much.

Make it simple
Planes cost 5000. can move 5-7 times troops is cool. Planes can be located at any city you own or HB. Planes offer no defense to a city or hb so if it is attacked you loose the planes or the attacking players gets your planes the same if a nuke were loaded in the city.
when a plane attacks a city each bomb=1000 trained troops Each plane can carry 5 bombs which cost 500 geos
*when army or city has antiaircraft defense the bomb now looks like 500 trained troops
No nukes on planes
Troops should carry antiair craft defense because they can be attacked when waiting outside a city or HB The only thing a plane cannot attack is armies on the move or other planes
The attack of a plane can never take a city but can kill all the troops inside.
Only one type of plane bomber
If after time you want to bring in different types thats cool but make sure it works first.
