View Full Version : AlphaScript (Working Title)
Martok 11-24-2010, 12:58 PM Hi everyone!
As a few of you might have noticed, I'm back in the game, and I dearly miss all the cool stuff Redux brought to the old game :D
So this thread is to announce the foundation of a new user script for the current game version. It will not be a port of Redux2 (in fact, it won't even have Redux in its name), but an all fresh start. Mainly because I stand in horror when looking at my coding skills back then, but also because there is just way too much that changed.
// post edited here: script actually exists now
Current Version: 0.02
Download/Install Link: alphascript.user.js (http://gewar.martoks-place.de/script/alphascript_0.02.user.js)
You know the drill: make sure you have Greasemonkey (http://www.greasespot.net/), click the link, forfeit your soul allow it to install, be happy.
You can find a feature list (and probably guides, once something gets difficult enough to require one) on my wiki (http://wiki.martoks-place.de/doku.php/pr:alphascript). That page also contains my To-do list and everything that I have done locally.
As always, bug reports & stuff go in here or can be sent via PM, in case there is something private/screenshots required etc.
I just hope there aren't too many, now that the game finally paced up ;)
Regards,
Martok
Spywareagen7 11-24-2010, 01:07 PM Awesome Martok, hopefully you have a lot of time because I'm sure you can find PLENTY of things people would like to have in the game. One of which would be:
"Top 10 Alliances
coming soon."
Same policies I think:
1) It has to be server-friendly
2) It is not allowed to block ads
3) It is not allowed to gather information to send to 3rd parties (as there has been one script in the past that sent information from those that use it to 1 person)
4) It is not allowed to give users features they should not have(therefor it would be smart post them all either here or in the helpcenter). It doesn't mean you can't create new features in it ofcourse. It is specifically meant for particular things that should not be.
5) It is definately never allowed to bypass the CAPTCHA. That might mean your resource auto-convert might have to be tweaked, unless you meaned it different.
For the rest I'm looking forward to what you can create :).
Sunshine31 11-24-2010, 01:25 PM Martok I would love to see the rename a number of armies all at once feature. Lenin used to run a page based off of redux away from the game with a tonne of stats, that would be really useful as well.
It used to show things like most player with most armies, most troops killed, most cities held, longest held city etc etc. It was also an extremely useful page from the staffs perspective.
But as with any script it would need to be checked over by the admins/coders before it could be released to the game :)
Starbuck 11-24-2010, 01:31 PM NICE martok, glad you are bringing this back.
Multiple army rename and all at once resource conversions would be cool
Peonboss 11-24-2010, 01:35 PM Maybe we should steer him to the most wanted changes list. I mean since the chief programer is a slacker who just wants to hold cities. He can add some features.
Warning: picking on prophet is suicidal. Even thinking such thoughts to yourself can get you strangled with a wireless mouse cord. I can get away with it, you can't. And he will still make me suffer.
Starbuck 11-24-2010, 02:20 PM Nice Martok... Can't wait for this to be up. Multiple army rename and resource conversion sounds great :cheer
RagingMongoose 11-24-2010, 09:15 PM The original script was awesome, glad to hear you're making another Martok!
Would be great if this new script allowed multiple armies to have fully experienced troops added in one click essentially. Adding troops and experience to loads of armies is one of my main irritations to be honest.
Martok 11-24-2010, 09:31 PM Same policies I think
Awesome!
5) It is definately never allowed to bypass the CAPTCHA. That might mean your resource auto-convert might have to be tweaked, unless you meaned it different.
Yeah, not really auto-convert, just pre-fill the input boxes. You would still have to enter the captcha manually, just like Redux had it.
Martok I would love to see the rename a number of armies all at once feature.
That would be included in the Task Force set.
Lenin used to run a page based off of redux away from the game with a tonne of stats, that would be really useful as well. Sounds very interesting, although I don't really see how that worked. Looks like an incredible amount of scraping from a client-only perspective. But Lenin always had a way of having a lot of stats stuff :)
Well then, on we go (actually I already started, mostly porting some kind of toolset over from another script I'm heavily working on.
Peonboss 11-24-2010, 10:23 PM Think it is a great idea, you might want to delve into the wish list of things we want to add to the game but yet never get added. Since our head programmer is way more interested in owning the world right now you might spur them on if you add features.
Warning, picking on Prophet is a very bad idea, I can get away with it cause he knows I am just giving him a hard time. If you try it, and he doesn't he will just eat you for lunch and use your account for lining his cat box. You have been warned.
Peonboss 11-24-2010, 10:24 PM Damn it I couldnt figure out why it never showed up. Oh well, the humor is gone if only you guys read em.. feel free to shred em but make sure proph sees em first
Martok 11-27-2010, 08:36 PM I just updated the first post with download links and some info (is that visible immediately or are edits moderated as well? That has been so long ago^^)
Consider it released then ;)
Right now it is not much more than army management, but that is what I desperately need right now, so I'm releasing about a day earlier than I intended.
Note the little box on the right above the sidebar which adapts with some context sensitive actions in case there are any available for the page you are on. If not, it merely contains a few links. Most features requiring more interaction open a dropdown toolbar from the top. To abort, simply close it using the X button. I might add a Quickstart Guide about these basics if I find the time and muse OR someone pays me enough geos to do so :D
Have fun & meet you on the battlefield,
Martok
