View Full Version : Minor interface suggestions
apollosmith 02-16-2006, 02:48 PM Could the text box on the alliance page be made into a multiline textarea, rather than a text input box? It's difficult to enter anything of significance in the tiny box and when you press enter accidentally, it submits the form. At a minimum, could you please make the box larger than 20 characters?
Also, it would be cool to have a KML link on the city page that would center and display that city in Google Earth so you can recon the area - would be a lot easier than searching in GE (especially when so many city locations are off) or trying to find it in the city list.
Thanks!

There isn't that many city locations that are off, and if they are it's only a small way???
Moved cities are only moved a little bit to make room for other major cities (or capitals) shouldn't be hard too find at all....

Yeah, you're right. But if you do a search in GE for the city, that 'little bit' can still make it hard to find amongst all the other cities, armies, and homebases.
Anyways, I wasn't complaining about that, I was just recommending that it would be a lot easier to have a link to a KML file that took you right to it.
Blitzkrieg 02-16-2006, 09:32 PM Oh ok. It's not a bad suggestion at all.
Have you considered turning homebases off unless you actually need them for moving armies, would reduce the clutter on the screen immensely!

Yeah a good idea...can't be too hard

You mean a KML file for each city? Why not just use the Citys KML (http://www.gewar.net/war/getcitieskml.php) and find the city there. It takes no time to load (as opposed to the homebase one) and it is in alphabetical order. What is so hard about that?...or are you just lazy :p

No, It's not too hard. I just made a simple recommendation to make things easier (one click and you view the city rather than click, click, click, scroll for a minute, click).
I'm not quite sure why everybody has to attack everyone that makes a simple recommendation. Kinda thought this was the "feature suggestions" forum, not the "lets pick on everybody that makes a feature suggestion" forum.

Yes, it is a feature suggestions forum, but it is more for gameplay features...
But we also don't want everthing to be so easy it is boring...so some ideas get ''attacked" as you call it more because they make things too easy even if they would be a good idea...if you know what I mean
Timmetie 02-17-2006, 06:01 AM you must understand that changes frighten us, especially the astronomical huge life changing kind like enlarging the alliance note box.
KingEmperor24 02-17-2006, 08:22 AM If scrolling really is too much of a hassle, click on a city, press CNTRL+F and then type in the city name. It will find it on the list. Voila! It will save you the precious 15 seconds.

Aaahhh... thanks. Didn't know about that trick. Still not as easy as "click" though. ;)
