How many jewels until you convert?

So, I was doing some jeweling and was wondering other players' styles. How many jewels do you collect before you decide to convert? Lets assume that there is currently no reason to save and hoard your jewels.

Because of habit, I collect 50 and convert, even though we do not have that cap anymore.

The standard seems to still be 50 jewels... how fast can you jewel 50, etc.
My record is 6:30 seconds, but normally, it takes me more like 7 min.

I feel like I start to lose focus and get bored after 35-40 jewels, which is why I usually stop at 50. I find that 1 on 1 jeweling races motivates me the most.

Yeah I ususally work on real life stuff for couple of hours, then take out about 30 minutes to focus on jeweling.
I'm not the best jeweler ever....I know bluecoat was really good...;bravo

I do the same Starchy. 50, then convert. 2 reasons. 1) I get bored after 50 just like you. 2) I like the security of knowing I'm earning max interest all the time even if it is minuscule amounts of geos.

I like to do as many as possible within one hour before converting. Makes me feel like my pain and suffering is worth it when I convert such a larger amount than 50.

I also enjoy jeweling races, 50 to 100 at a time, used to do 100 in about 13 minutes, just get right in the zone and pound them out, don't convert until I'm done for the night.

yes, there used to be a 50 cap, which is why I think a lot of players convert at 50. WE HAVE BEEN BRAINWASHED BY LUKE! :D

I think OON is referring to my 1st round where I jewelled a lot and could do the 50 limit in around 6 mins 30 secs. By no means a record, but it was quite quick on the old server. I was taught my jewelling skills by HHMira though, so I was only attempting to replicate the true jewelling master's mad skills!

Bluecoat and Yome back in their day are by far the fastest jewellers I've heard about in the game, with Hurricane probably being the most dedicated back in the days of the jewelling limit.

OON gets a special mention for coming up with a method of jewelling that actually allowed him to jewel fast and hold a beer at the same time! I was genuinely impressed with his dedication!

Oh yeah, forgot to say how fast. I can do 50 in 7-8, although I think I may have done 50 in 6 when GE was slightly faster for me.

i never convert until i stop jeweling anymore , so i dont know my new times , i was too fast some rounds ago and was frozen by luke one time because he thought i used a tool -.-
was a very unhappy 3 day jeweling break...

No, impossible. Shortcuts open up.

KD did you scroll up and down the list of jewel locations? If not you must do that then it will work, not sure why, it just does :)

No doesn't work. When pressing the S button for example a "save as" window appears.

Ok open the list of jewel locations, then hilight the firstt location, then scroll all the way down to the final location and then back up to the top. Then once you have done that, and collected your first jewel, just make sure that location is hilighted on your jewel list then type in the start of the new location and it should go straight to the new jewel for you.

It's strange, for some letters it works perfect, other letters don't even react and some open functions.

are you clicking in the "My Places" bar before you type the letters?

In Windows Vista/Windows 7, I think you can disable keyboard shortcuts by hitting <win button> + < x >.

If I hold shift key while typing it works. Capslock doesn't work :P

When you open GE, do you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the jewel file, then back to the top? You need to do this to activate the file in GE so all locations are recognised when you type.
