Since there's already nuke shields for cities, I thought it'd be cool if there was more stuff like that.
City Walls - Defense Strenth Doubled (1000geos)
Armies ride on tanks - Move twice as fast (Depend on size of army)
Armies use guns - Attack Strength Doubled (dito)
Something along those lines.
Armies use guns - Attack Strength Doubled
Your armies don't use guns? I know which cities I'm going to attack first ;)

Hi, I'm new here... I think those ideas are good because it sort of makes GEwar like Civilization except round-the-clock with more rpg elements.
Would there be a way to differentiate between terrain, requiring airlift/sea transport over water (and also potentially opening up opportunity for a naval force in itself)?

Great idea. However, like the nuke shield, upgrades should have to have a continual upkeep cost. Cities could buy upgrades like crazy and then never worry about ever losing it. Someone could even use a small army to defend it. I want this in the game. (it would also be cool, even though it is most likely out of the question, to have somthing other that geometric shapes for cities or bases. building upgrades could improve the base/cities appearence, grow it, etc.)

i reckon upgrades are good, although maybe only in a simple version, coz putting too much detail in could really alter the game (not necessarliy in a good way) :cool:
