Some of us in Texas have taste and avoid Coors Light and Corona like the plague :)

If I had to choose an American beer, it would be Shiner Bock, but my food of choice is Guinness Draught.

Huge fan of the microbrew. I love all the Shiner flavors. Guinness would be next on my list below Shiner.

But my absolute favorite is Red Lady Ale from the Crested Butte Brewery (http://www.cbbrewery.com/) in Crested Butte, CO.

Also like the brews at the Fredericksburg, TX Brewery.

CHEERS!!! ;beer

Fosters? :growse It's so bad we make it export-only!

Give me a brew from a monestary in Belgium somewhere anyday, or any & all of the small un-commercial breweries in Germany (there are atleast 5 in each town, too many to list)

Love this thread!!!!

Since I am from Brazil, I must post here brazillian beers, that I already compared with some foreing ones (Bud, Corona, Heineken, Coors), and I can say I preffer the brazillian ones:

top of the list: Bohemia and Original

Also good beers: Skol (can), Antarctica (bootle) and Brahma (draught beer, served on steel barrel) - don´t ask me why, but there is a huge difference between the canned, bottled and barreled beers of the same brand.

btw, all of them are made by the same company: AMBEV, biggest beer company of Latin America, and 5th of the world.....

I go for lighter beers and pale ales--amber ales are almost to heavy for my tastes. I especially like microbrews (and I live in a good area to take advantage of that). Among my favorites are Red Hook ESB, Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Weinhard's Blue Boar Pale Ale, Tecate, Tsing Tao, and (yes) Bud Light.

Im in Wisconsin, and i like to drink Budweiser & Miller Lite those are one of the best beers.

Ok, here I go ;)

Shiner beer is good, I haven't had their Bock, but I do like their Hefeweizen.

I drank Bohemia when doing some research in Mexico, but I think Leon was the best I had down there. That along with some Pozole (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pozole) was a great combination.

My favorite beers are from Schell's brewery in New Ulm, MN (www.schellsbrewery.com/home.php). They make a great Bock for their Bock Fest (www.schellsbrewery.com/news_bockfest.php). Unfortunately I've had to miss the last few years because I now live in North Carolina :'(

They also make a wonderful Firebrick (Vienna style lager). Unfortunately they no longer make their Weizen. A friend of mine in college compared it to drinking a loaf of bread :cheesy

Leinenkugel's in Wisconsin (www.leinie.com/welcome.html) makes some decent beer. They also used to be a staple when I lived in the Midwest. They were bought out by one of the macro brewers so I think things have a changed a bit. Their Honeyweiss is a nice refreshing beer for summer. The also used to have a Winter beer (perfect for Winter of course), but they discontinued it and have some kind or Creamy Dark. It's Ok, but not quite the same. The also have a pretty good Red, but I don't drink those too often.

Going to the fridge to check what I have...

Weihenstephaner (www.brauerei-weihenstephan.de) also makes some great beers. I usually will have their Hefeweißbier in summer. They also make a great Hefeweißbier Dunkel that I've had out of the bottle and very luckily off tap the other weekend while in DC - very tasty.

Erdinger Weißbier (www.erdinger.de) also is a good choice for summer (see if you notice a trend ;) )

Once it's starts getting colder I usually shift to darker beers. Beamish (www.beamish.ie) is a good choice in winter. Nothing against Guinness, but I usually go with that instead. I usually grab Dunkels of different brands as well. Ayinger (www.ayinger-bier.de/) always seems to have a good variety to choose from if I want something different.

Another beer I ran across unexpectedly is Victory Golden Monkey (www.victorybeer.com/). It's a Belgian style Tripel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tripel). It was best off tap, bottles have been mixed so far.

With that I move onto Belgian beers that I've recently been introduced to. Lindeman's (www.lindemans.be/) makes some good Lambics to start with. My favorites are the Geuze and Peche, but my wife loves the Cassis. Chimay (www.chimay.com/) makes a good range of Trappist beers, I prefer the Grande Réserve (Blue).

Right now I'm currently waiting to try a Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock (www.samueladams.com) I bought. It sounds very intriguing.

Ok, I thinks that enough for now. I kind of get carried away with beer :bang

It's tough to beat a good old fashioned London Pub crawl! Boddington, Bass, Guiness, Newcastle, Twisted Thistle, Old Speckled Hen (look at the avatar), Shiner Bock is good, Fat Tire Ale, Samuel Adams, etc., etc., etc.

I like india pale ales.
My favorite is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
I also like Sierra Nevada Celebration when I can get it.

I prefer draft beer. I converted a refrigerator into a kegerator.

I usually get kegs of Carolina India Pale Ale from the Carolina Brewing Company (http://www.carolinabrew.com/carolinabrew.html)

They are pretty cool guys. They don't even charge a deposit on the keg.

Here in Costa Rica, the best local beer is called Imperial-is very good-, there is also a lot of people who like Pilsen, and there are others like Bavaria, Rock Ice....

I like mexicans beers like Sol, Corona and Tecate, they are not very expensive.

Other imported beers: Cusqueña, "Fruto Prohibido"-Don't remember his name, i think is from Belgium-, Amstel.

So many beers I like.

I generally drink micro brewery beers. When it comes to commericial beers, I like labatt 50 (considered as an old people's beer, only available in eastern part of Canada).

If you are into Belgian style ales, try Unibroue beers (http://www.unibroue.com/products/bieres.cfm) . It might even be distributed in the States.

I'm with Sh0tgunSteve - the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Celebration Ale are standards in my house. Great hops flavor and aroma - best of the nationally distributed non-commercial beers.

I discovered a great hoppy, wonderfully aromatic dry-hopped beer over the holidays. It's from Boulder Beer (http://www.boulderbeer.com/). Called the Hazed and Infused Dry-Hopped Ale. You can actually order this stuff online and have it shipped to you via this place:

Arctic Liquor (http://www.arcticliquor.com/)

I don't know how they get away with shipping since you can't ship everything to every part of the country but I got mine! :p

when i was in th US last year, i had a lot of beer all over the US (even if i am not 21, hehe) but i liked fat tyre the most. maybe it was due to the fact that i was drinkin' it around a campfire in yellowstone but it tasted really good.

wow, cant believe i missed this thread. As a beer lover (platonic only jw) i have tried many a beer in different countries.

My favorites are bavarian beer (surprise surprise) like Franziskaner, Erdinger, Schneider, Weihenstephan (oldest brewery in the world).

I also enjoy traditional english ales like Hobgoblin, Bishops finger, Fursty ferret and for those of you who like strong ale there is Baz's Bonce Basher 9.4% per pint.

Another favorite of mine is Keo. (the beer not the player jw) A refreshing beer from the island of Cyprus.

Luke

American beer is like making love in a canoe.

Old joke.

I am late to the beer world, hated beer till my 40's and only then because a friend started working on me. So I have found a number I like but they are all local brews. Mostly I make my own. Current on tap is a recipe that uses an old English as it's base but gets radically changed.

On occasion I do make kit beers, made 5gal each yesterday of octane ipa and autumn brew. The wife is fond of cervaso so we usually have a few cases of that going too.

But I tend to aim for very thick brews that are not extremely bitter. The wife calls em my bread in a bottle brews.

Oh and got a kit of pumpkin ale on the way. Made it last fall and it was my only flop so far. Was just gross, we ended up dumping 2 cases of it. But I had got tricky this year we will follow the recipe.
