I sent the provider an email. They first responded this morning that it was fixed. I replied it wasn't, and now speed is back so now it does seem fixed.

What's the story with the server lag that happens every hour?

I was wondering the same. Every hour, pretty much on the hour without fail, the server lags for about 2 minutes and my browser just hangs loading the page.

Just think of what you could have done with that 4 minutes, you could have washed up, made a cup of tea, or even just sat and chatted to me on msn HRH lol.

A big cron runs every hour to update the game. Has always been ;). Also in the old version of the game.

Yep. But it's new that this cron slows the server down that much. I think the first complaints about it were reported two weeks ago.

What when two huge wars broke out at once? More moving armies longer cron.

It does it every hour on the hour for 3 minutes, it has been doing it alot longer than 2 weeks though Thomas, I can remember it being this bad for at least a couple of months.

4 minutes of execution in a script with maximum provileges???????
I think there is any kind of problem in this script or with the server optimization, and I can put mi hand in the fire saying it is a problem of the database actualization, perhaps a little cache, running all actualization directly on disk, this will spent a loooooong time and this can be the problem.

Yea its been a problem for a couple months, it's never been this bad before.
