Having seen Huxy's thread, I wanted to raise a valid point, so I thought I'd create a thread where anyone can make any post they want, on any topic.
As has been demonstrated numerous times, I am almost always supportive of Staff and defend them when others attack.
With the "Gentle Reminder" thread though, I really have to disagree. Although I agree it is against the rules to swear, be personally insulting, etc etc, I fail to see there is any other way now with a certain individual. The thread clearly concerns Peon and I, as we're the ones who had posts deleted.
Recently with the Peon vs RagingMongoose thread in the Colosseum, Peon once again made inferred comments that were highly personal and insulting towards me, as he had also done previously on another thread and in PMs. I reported the first occasion, nothing was done. I then reported the second incident of this happening, Peon received a mute. The third occasion on the Colosseum thread again went unpunished.
My point here is this - if posts are personally insulting, reported to staff, but no action is taken, surely there is no alternative other than to retaliate on the forum thereby defending yourself. I fail to see why I should be insulted but should remain silent and/or good natured.
After the thread in the Colosseum, I PMd Peon basically saying that mine and his trade offs were irritating people and that we should refrain from posting about the incidents. For a short while, Peon adhered to this, however he started again the other day on the forums referring to people he ignored, i.e. me, as a "moron". I responded once again owning Peon as I've done consistently throughout, however these posts were deleted. Many other posts where Peon posted first with some sly or derogitory comment towards me and my responses have also been deleted. Not edited, not moved to another forum area, not split into another thread - deleted.
So basically, and please correct me if my understanding is flawed here, but Peon can post what he likes for all to read until the one particular staff member comes online to delete it thereby saving Peon's blushes.
The post deletion incident is disgraceful, it is censorship to the extreme in order to protect Peon from being pushed into a corner. There are many cases where people have been insulting to one another, yet it is only when Peon picks a fight by insulting someone that the posts get deleted. Others have been muted, i.e. Jaz, or banned. It would seem Peon has a friend in high places.
Peon can't keep his mouth shut, yet when people (including me) own him for making his comments, it is inferred that we are "insulting" him. I have offered forum peace to Peon and it was thrown in my face. I have previously reported his comments/insults with little or no action being taken. His insults and sly comments continue and still no action is taken. The only option left is for him to be insulted in return when he posts his usual insults I'm afraid.
There is a very simple solution to stop these insults - shut Peon up and enforce the rules. Don't post yet another thread reminding everyone of the rules, that everyone already knows. Peon always makes the first insult, others like me then respond. Remove the source of the problem and the consequences will stop.
Still, I await the ultimate irony in all this, my ban/mute for posting this. Afterall, I've once again taken a pop at Peon, his keeper in high places isn't going to like that now are they?!
