View Full Version : Attacking Ratio
RagingMongoose 12-06-2009, 11:08 AM Could someone tell me how this is possible? Even with extremely bad attacking ratios/odds, I've never seen anything like this so far.
11:45:07 - December 6th, 2009 Your army . was attacked by indienestmonnom outside the city of Boston, United States of America. Your army was killed in the battle. 0 attacking troops were killed.
I had just over 16,000 hit points in that army (approx 7000 troops I think), how is it possible that 0 attacking troops were killed? Is this a bug or was it actually 0?
This happened at 12:45:07 server time.

smile - didn't you read the post of Indie ?

Haha, yes I did and whilst I don't doubt the attacking prowess of Indie's troops, it doesn't explain how none died in battle :)
filibuster 12-06-2009, 12:23 PM Cool, that must have been a perfect kill, those are entirely possible yet it is so rare i have only seen one in alpha.
It happens when all your results are defender loses.
TheDuke 12-06-2009, 12:36 PM ah ha...i thought it was only me...ive had a many a pointless death to none

Maybe I could accept this is possible for extremely small armies attacking, but not in this case.
In a two way decision (50/50 in other words), my army had 16000 chances at beating just 1 of Indie's troops. From my sense of logic, this means the attack was the equivalent of flipping a coin 16000 times without it landing on tails.
Ok, this is possible mathematically, but in a 50/50 situation the odds of this happening 16000 times must be infinitesimally small.
Yeah as that is absurd, we might as well put attack ratios not on the 'to tweak list' but straight on the 'bug list'.

Well to be fair, this is the only time I've had a ratio anywhere near this extreme all round so I can't really complain, just thought it was very unusual though.

very good ;bravo

Take your time Luke, I've been having great ratios since we moved to alpha :p

See, it's not just me that loves the randomness of it all ;beer
filibuster 12-07-2009, 04:08 PM The one i saw was between armies over 100k, with more close calls also over 100k but that was on alpha.
Gotta be a cascade effect, while losing 10+ times in a row is not probable by itself losing the first 2-3 times in a row and then roll downhill is quite more probable.
It makes a 100k vs 100k become 60k vs 100k from start and still get bad odds and be squished.
The chance you don't hit increase with every hit you take.
There should be a bunch of posts on attack ratios on the old alpha forum.
outofnowhere 12-10-2009, 01:37 AM Could'nt have happened to a more deserving guy. I would not even wish those odds on GhostDog :sho

Well luckily I'm not completely retarded at the game like you are, so I recovered the situation. As has been said in this thread, sometimes we all get bad luck, it's just that some of us deal with it and remain effective. Others like you blunder through from failure to failure whether they have good or bad luck - oh well, keep trying and maybe in another 3 years of playing you'll learn how to play in a way to back up all that trapping off you do!
Uns_Uwe 04-02-2010, 09:34 PM I'm sorry to annoy you. I know it's easter and stuff, but action in gewar never stops and crazy odds also doesn't stop:
The city of Bhopal, India was attacked by robotech. 2 defending armies (99,526 troops) were killed in the battle. 21,225 attacking troops were killed. Uns_Uwe lost the city.
All I want for Christmas Easter is fixed odds ;91
