Ok OK! So hows about this. now that nukes actually travel real time... i guess...?

There should be a trail in nukes like in real life. There does not have to be any warnings but at least a bit more realistic? Like not being able to see where the nuke is going.
Only for people who ZOOM out enough so that you don't see the cities. Like a view from outer space. I just think this would be a bit fancier and cool IMO

And hows about a star wars program?

Just ideas/food for thought.

Stars wars program eh!! That's a pretty cool idea since google earth also has a space mode. Maybe we should let them get the rest of the game up and running first tho. :)

tru tru. just food for thought. I'm just a bit iffy on being able to see the town and nuke in the same page. It kinda takes away the advantage of a nuke. I can understand the travel time, but showing the time it takes and what city really doesn't help the person who fires the nuke. You might as well just get a city next to the person and fire. that way, no time is wasted on a nuke

I love this idea Leon, I think it will make it a lot more realistic and then you can see the nuke travel but you can't see where it is actually headed? Would be cool to see nukes travel but you haven't a clue where they are headed...

yep. i agree. people will pay more attention to GEWorld when nukes fly. And of course with all the cities, it can surely be unknown as to which city it will directly hit. Plus, with all the time it takes to travel, i'm sure people will have enough time to see where it goes.

i bounced the google sky war idea around a while ago...but as said lets let this game get going first.....

p.s
nuke trail...awesome idea

:) yep. I agree. i do hope this game is fully done soon ! Is there any idea as to what's being worked on right now? any checklists? And I'd like to keep this idea up as it seems two strong players like the idea. maybe I can gain more support with this soon, so it'll be an idea for the programmers to think about :D

This is a great idea, it would be kind of nice if it can be considered at least!

A checklist will also do so that we can see what's being worked on etc??

yep yep. there's this other fantasy game i play. and the programmer posts on what's being worked in different areas.
Game
Forum
Sim
And another page that says what's been improved and such. It's a handy little thing for players to see. I actually took part in voting for a new feature and people loved the idea and a few days later it was on the "Changelog" the things being worked on and considered.

hello, so i wanna bring all this stuff up again.

First and foremost. Is there a thread or a link where we can see what's being worked on?

Or what's been added since the start of alpha?

Like a change log =====> it's an Admin Announcement kinda thing.
Game Changelog
Sim Major Changelog (affects following day) = it'll have dates, and bullet's on what's going on.
Website Changelog
Same idea, but for the site for this forum, or gewar game site!

AND FINALLY
Current project(s)
On the radar
and
Back burner for now
(3 different topics)

also,

the above statement which really started this thread. Any support on that? I know it's been a month or two or three since I posted that. And i've been patiently waiting for a track to explode on ;)

Quick changes (http://www.gewar.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11813)
Recent changes (http://www.gewar.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12497)

you can also see a list of what gewar players have found to be in the highest demand on the to-do list:
what would you like to see fixed first (poll) (http://www.gewar.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11657)

I can assure you that the codemonkeys are working on changes. we have a to-do list that is very long. I will leave it up to the admins as to whether they want to disclose the full list or not.

oh tru tru, i do remember those. I was just wondering if it will be posted in a subject on it's own. Like just an admin announcement. No replies, just announcement. And the complaints and such will be posted on a different link or something. That way, it'll be clean and always be found. Of course, I don't mind if not ALL information is disclosed but at least stuff like that. And maybe future and most likely ideas to come out.

I think us coders are at the moment tied up with the most important to-do list. However, this doesn't mean we won't go through all the feature suggestions. Answers are a little bit later than desired though. My apoligies for that. When we are done with the huge list of all we need to do after going to V2 of gewar, we always go back to the feature suggestion subforum, so we will always read and discuss every new suggestion.

The more plausible(or easier) it is, the better the chance it makes it soon.

no apologies my good sir. I know you guys are hard at work. I was just wondering what it is you guys are working on. and what are the possible improvements within that work? something like that? lol it's all good tho.
I personally am in no rush. I'm just handing out future suggestions. I just haven't played in a while, so I'm a bit clueless but i got the update!

Oh and trust me, we are thankful for all the future suggestions :). Just because we have a list we have to work through first, shouldn't stop anyone from posting their suggestions.

Most of our first list is to bring back the features that went missing after going from V1 to V2...that and bugfixes. After that, it is back to this list of players suggestions.

Not to be a pain in the butt, but.... a simple fix that is pretty annoying is the nuke msg.

16:15:01 - January 12th, 2010 The city of Mexico City, Mexico was nuked by jaz . The city had a nuke shield in place and no armies were killed. 1 of the armies with a total of 110,344 troops were incinerated. thesarge lost the city.

and that one almost made some sense.

lol yo, that's actually really funny.

Some bugs ARE being worked on lol

Nukes travel at 10 times the speed of troops I think.

I like the idea of nukes not being so easily visible. The defending player now gets too much opportunity to defend against what should be a weapon of mass destruction. Don't get me wrong, I like that nuke shields can be weakened with multiple nukes and repaired - it really adds an extra dimension to the game.

However, I think things have gone a little too far now in favour of the defending player. Unless you can be sure the player is offline, nukes can now be a very expensive waste of geos for no gain whatsoever. Leon's idea would help balance this area of the game out I think from my experience. Not a major priority at the moment as said, but would definitely be a "nice to have" in future.

ok how's about this.

Why not use a target reticle when viewing the actual GE and send the nuke where you want it to?
You can actually nuke homebases, or adjacent cities or armies lying in wait.
That'd be pretty neat.
I like my ideas!

good way to bring GE into the game more.
