To solve a security problem on the server I sometimes have to reboot the server. This causes several minutes of downtime. Sorry for the inconvenience.

UPDATE:

Currently doing a security scan. This has caused a slowdown for the last hour or so. Will probably continue for another 30 minutes before it's done.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Forum(only main page) was down for a few minutes due to a problem with the Flashchat update(which was necessary as there were holes in it).

The chat may be down for a little while also.

*Update: New version of chat is online again.

You may have noticed the 'who is online' has dissapeared from the main page. That is because that funny little add-on is incompatible with this version of the chat. If for now you really must know who is chatting, just go to: http://www.gewar.net/forums/flash/info.php

All rooms are gone also. If an alliance wishes to have it's own chatroom again, just call for gewar police to create one(and don't forget to add the name of the chatroom and what password you desire).

Apologies for a slowdown now and the coming hours: Running the virusscanner.

Just to give fair warning: in 15 minutes the server will be down for 2-3 minutes.

*edit: you may have notice a slowdown in the last 2 hours. Another virusscan. Because of latest events, I'm doing that as much as possible in the hope of closing all holes. Sorry for the slowdown inconveniences, but this is supposed to work for the long run.

Due to a technical problem the server was down for about 2,5 hours. The provider has solved the problem, and now gave us the means to solve it ourselves straight away if it occurs again in the future.

Rebooting server in 15 minutes to test something. It will be offline then for 2 minutes.

There was a problem on the filesystem that caused the server and database to slow to a crawl. After a reboot and a little clean up all should be good to go.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Sorry for the extreme downtime today. The server had some big problems that required calling the hosting company directly. Luke got them on the phone and all is well.

We had a few minutes downtime this afternoon(servertime) and a little lag now. This is supposedly caused by another server in the same rack. They call it 'broadcast storm' that that particular server is doing.

I noticed the server was rather slow the last hour. Contacted the provider and it seemed another server in the same rack was 'under fire'. It was disabled and problem solved.

Currently some technical issues somewhere which is causing the server/connection to be extremely slow. I already sent the provider an email, hoping they can fix it. Last time we had this, another server in the same rack was under fire. Hoping it's something similar this time, and hope they fix it a.s.a.p.

As I expected. The slowness and downtime was caused by another server in the same rack that was causing network problems. Should be fixed now(provider disabled that particular server). Most unfortunate that this had to happen again, and hope it won't happen again soon.

Sorry for the slowdown folks, the provider is looking into it as we speak.

Response from the provider was to reboot our server. Unfortunately I just got home(why does this always happen when I'm not around?) so couldn't do it before. Did it now, and will keep you updated if this was indeed the problem.

Minor changes in settings for server. So have to do a reboot again.

Luke

The company in which our server is installed, has server maintenance in the night from Monday to Tuesday between 00:00 and 03:00 servertime. Expect downtime in those hours.

Some serverproblems(time outs). According to the provider, somehow our server IP ended up on a blacklist of one of the 'carriers'. This, according to them, is causing major slowdowns and time-outs lately. They requested to have the IP removed. Hope they are right as this is annoying.

Doing a backup of all files remaining on the server, so you might notice some slowdowns during this.

Due to maintenance, you might notice some interruptions today.

I notice we are sometimes having database failures due to too many connections. I'll keep an eye on it if this keeps on happening. Could be the max number of connections in the settings is set too low.

There will be server maintenance within 24 hours. They have asked me what timeframe is most convenient so I thought I would forward that to you too:

Either between 2am and 5am, or between 1pm and 4pm (servertime). I do not know how long the server will be offline then.

Luke

Update on maintenance(see message above):

The downtime will be about an hour. Sorry for the inconvenience, but it is important. Server is getting a full check-up from the hosting company.

Luke

Ok time is now known:

At 1pm servertime tomorrow(actually today already...16th of March) the server will be offline for about an hour.
